Ladies I’m basically looking for reassurance that I’ll still have chances of conceiving even though I have thrush yet again!

I suffer with thrush quite often, a few years ago it was that bad that I was on long term meds for it. I’ve had numerous hospital tests and all reveal thrush and nothing more serious than that fortunately. Tried lifestyle and medication changes and I still get it, no idea why.

We were going to start TTC for the first month last month, but I got thrush before my period which was still there when my period ended. A few days course of pessaries clear it up but by the time my symptoms have gone my fertile window is over! So last month we didn’t start TTC (if were not careful I sometimes pass the thrush to my fiancé, but not all the time) in the hope that this month it would be different.

Well my period ended a few days ago and I’ve ended up with thrush again :( fertile window due to start Monday. If I start taking the pessaries now I’ll probably miss my fertile window again by the time it’s cleared up, and I’ve read that although thrush may not affect chances of conceiving, the pessaries can affect it.

I am so desperate to start trying for a baby, I don’t want to keep putting it off. The thrush doesn’t seem to stop me from getting EWCM so it makes sex less painful during my fertile window. But it does cause me a lot of soreness, redness and itching at times. (sorry if TMI)

Are there any ladies out there that get frequent thrush and did it affect your chances of conception?

I feel your pain, I had thrush for 7 months of my pregnancy that just wouldn't clear, for that, my advice would be to use a pessary now while you can! Creams are fine but if it's an angry infection like mine was then I'd use a pessary before your fertile window approaches.

It was awful, I was rubbing natural yoghurt on the inside of my knickers and everything!

Ah thank you! Glad someone feels my pain, I also tried the natural yogurt! Also changed my diet, clothes I wore, washing powder, all sorts and nothing worked. Just done an OPK and it looks like ovulation might be getting closer than I thought so don’t think I’ve got time to do another course of pessaries this month, just going to go for it and try to withstand the soreness! Wish me luck!

I get it every now and then and theres usually no reason for it, as in, I haven't done anything different to have got it :wall2:

I had it, typically last month during what I thought was my fertile window, so I naughtily didn't tell my oh that I had it, knowing I had already taken the pill to clear it, so was already on the case - think he was fine though.

I was a bit concerned that on the packaging for the pill as it did say that ttc on it wasn't ideal  but my sister reassured me this was just overly precautionary.

It is annoying as hell and I feel you pain, but hopefully it won't it effect your chances of ttc.

good luck <3

I've heard giving up dairy can help. I've also heard it can be a symptom of candida and there are anticandida diets. I did one and it worked. Here is a good site. https://www.thecandidadiet.com/guide-to-probiotics/ Also there are probiotics for down there.

When I had thrush, my OH was also treated even though he was symptom-less as men can carry it. I'm sure you know that, but just in case - if you have unprotected sex with thrush your partner needs to be treated too.

And you can't use the pill when TTC just the pessaries - they are safe.

I don't see why you couldn't do AI (artificial insemination) with thrush, it would avoid your OH catching it or giving it back to you, and you could use preseed to combat the CM problem.

It must be soooo frustrating! xx

Thank you! Never seen that Candida diet before. Will definitely look into that! Day 2 of my fertile window so DTD the last two days and nothing seems to have worsened fortunately! xx
