Hi girls

I am new to all of this. I was posting on the TTC concieve section to start with a got some good advice from the some of the girls there, but someone recomended I post here as we are not new to the trying game. My husband and I have been TTC to over 2 years. I have had all the tests done (scan/blood tests) and they cannot find anything wrong. My DH has just had his sperm test so we are waiting for the results. I am also having accupunture & reflexology, I have seen a nutritionist, I am normal weight eat a good diet, do not smoke, excersise regularly and take pregnacare and evening primrose oil. (also use Pre Seed and use legs up in the air at fertile times) I have been using the Clear Blue Ovulation test for the last 2 months and they have been negative both times. I do worry that I am not ovulating as the tests are negative, but then when i saw my gynocologist he told me that the scan showed I had ovulated last month?? I also understand that you do not ovulate every month anyway???

Am I missing something?? I am so frustrated with it all, but do not feel ready for the next step of IVF.

Any tips would be reatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jo

Firstly  hello x

Welcome to the gang of unfortunate LTTTC!!

No new tips unfortunately - ur gynaecologist not referred you to fertility specialist yet? Could try clomid to get things moving? X

:hugs: I know it's shit but were all here to help x

Maybe it has something to do with your oh's sperm quality? We tried for 15 months before I got my bfp and the last months we knew that my hubby had low sperm count. He took zink, selenium, vitamins and prycnogenol (antioxidants) for a while. I also was on clomid (even though I ovulate) just to boost it all. I don't know what excatly got me pregnant, but keeping your OH healthy as well as yourself can't hurt!

Wish you good luck!

xx

Thanks.. I have heard of Clomid... are they any side effects of this???
We should get OH tests results soon.
We have been referred on the NHS but still waiting for an appointment. I heard it takes ages whihc is why i went for scan privately and they rated my chances of concieving as good! it is so frustrating though. I do wonder if perhaps my OH sperm count is low? I am going to be get him on the vit tablets too that is a good idea. It is shit... but thanks for the advice...

i dont know about the side effects of clomid but i know there are some - 1 of the other ltttc will have to answer that! ive not got that far yet unfortunetly! :(

my hubby has just done his sperm test too so awaiting results at mo- hes been on the vitamins for quite a while tho to try help x

if ur hubby not on vitamins then he needs to be- zinc especially - but i get the multivit wellman for hubby as its got all the 'fertility' recommended vitamins in them x

always here for a moan feel free to pm me if u just need a chat or to blow off steam x x :friends:

Clomid comes with a whole heap of crappy side effects, hot flushes, headaches, insomnia ... BUT saying all that it can be really effective for some women so its well worth trying if you can xxxxx

Hi Gizzy! Welcome to LTTTC! Your story sounds similar to mine, me and hubby have had tests (incl an internal scan) and had our first appt with the ACU (after a 6 mth wait), all have come back normal. My next test is an HSG xray to my fallopian tubes aren't blocked, that'll be in Jan/Feb next year. I take it you're on the waiting list for your ACU?

I also take evening primrose oil which I've found has regulated my cycles and I've had reflexology on and off which I love I have to say. How do you find accupuncture? I've been thinking about trying it.

I would recommend that you get yourself some cheapy ovulation tests (OPKs), I get mine from amazon in a bundle of 50 and it's only about 8 quid or something. What I do is I take an average of my cycle over the lst 6 months (mine is 32 days) and I then make a note in my diary of when to start testing and usually start from 27 days. You ovulate 14 days before your period is due and you should ovulate every month (although not everyone does) but since you've had it tested then you should do. You can work it out from there. You probably are ovulating but just not testing at the right times. Getting the cheap ones means you can use quite a few without breaking the bank!

Hopes this helps, pm me if you want and good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Kay Kay

I find accupunture okay if anything it makes me relax and i feel very chilled after a session. If you are fine with needles then you will like it. Once they are in you cannot even feel them. Loads of people have found it has helped. I have been having it now for about 3 months. I really enjoy reflexology too but I have only had a few sessions.

I have bought the ovulation tests (from Amazon) but all I get is negatives :-( I start them on day 8 (as I have a 25 day cycle) that is what the instructions say... I am sure I am reading them right?

Good luck too... it does help to talk to other girls in our situation, I cannot beleive how many others out there that are going through this too!!

Gizzy xx

I know it uses more but have you had a month where you have used an opk every day? When my gp did the very few tests she could be bothered with me it turned out I wasn't ovulating when I should, it's so long ago now I can't remember what day it was, I was 28 day cycle. Might be worth checking every day of one month xxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry Kay Kay what does ACU mean?
All of my tests have been done privatley but we have been referred on the NHS so basically we are waiting for the first appointment. The letter was sent in July!!!
Thanks Gizzy xx

Welcome to LTTC! It's nice to speak to people who are in simialr situations. When you go to the fertility clinic they probably put you on clomid to help you ovulate even if you already do. As for OH i know that alcohol is not good ofr the little swimmers, and it lasts 3 months so if he has a bender now it'll affect you guys in 3 months. I try to tell my OH not to drink that much but he's not that keen! Keep us updated

Sorry Gizzy just catching up, been a busy few days! ACU is assisted conception unit. It's actually called ACS where I'm from. We waited 6 months for our appt xxx

Hi Gizzy.., we were trying for just under two years and have just had our BFP! It wasn't without frustration though as DH had fertility issues, though we didn't find this out until March this year.

I've pasted below some text that i have posted elsewhere (i've copied this in a few places so i don't have to re-write all the time :)

OPK tests aren't always very reliable.., what i would MASSIVELY advise is that you do your BBT testing.., although that doesn't tell you until you have ovulated, it will show clearly if you have or haven't ovulated.

I totally empathise with everyone who is TTC - i've had all those 24 odd months of frustration, anguish, upset, tears..., its so hard..., anyway here is my text:

Hi, i just wanted to share with others whose DH may has fertility difficulties. My DH was told in March 2011 he had low sperm count (8m) and poor morphology <0% normal form!!

My DH attended acupuncture, changed his diet, took specialist supplements, stopped wearing tight pants, reduced hot baths and iced his testicles! 6 months later, September 2011, he went for another test at the doctors, his count hadn't changed but his morphology had increased to 5% normal form.

I have received my first ever positive Sunday just gone - i am almost 5 weeks.

Its extremely early..., but whether this beanie sticks..., we have proven the GPs wrong, they said we would struggle to conceive and we were waiting for a referral to start the IVF process...,

So we can catch.., and i hope this will give others hope.

If anyone would like to chat.., you're welcome to drop me a message!

Baby Dust to everyone - never give up hope!!!
