Hi girls

Went to triage due to reduced movement. Ctg all ok. Had a scan also. Was told there's slightly too much fluid around baby but nothing drastic. Have to go back Monday for GTT and TORCH test. Has anyone else experienced too much fluid and if so has everything been ok with baby? I'm probably worrying over nothing but just wanted some reassurance xx

Hi Katie. We had a similar experience with DD1. Went in for a scan due to reduced movement at 37 weeks and we were told I had slightly too much amniotic fluid and for that reason they would want to keep a close eye on me during labour. It meant I couldn't have the water birth I wanted (although as it turned out the new birthing pool wasn't ready when I went into labour anyway so it was kind of irrelevant!). I went into labour less than a week later and other than being told to go straight in as soon as my waters went (rather than waiting for contractions to start) I don't think anything was done differently because of it. It certainly didn't affect baby (and she was born naturally after less than three hours of active labour so it went pretty smoothly!) x

I had this, I went for a GTT and it came back that I had GD and that's why I had a lot more fluid but baby was fine and healthy but I ended up being induced and he was on the big side too xxx

Thanks girls that's made me feel bit better. You can't help but worry. I'm only slightly above normal for fluid range so I guess I'll wait n see what Monday brings with the tests. I wanted a water birth so badly but I guess I'll have to do what's safest. Thank u for your help xx

I had a scan a few weeks back and showed excess fluid. They said it wasn't a great deal but then I had to go for the gestational diabetes test. It came back borderline but they have let it go so no treatment needed.

I had another scan a few days ago which showed the fluid was normal. Babies bladder however was full, and should baby have wee'd, it could have taken the fluid back over the normal limit. So that's what my original 'excess' could have been......baby peeing!!!

My first was planned section, at 37wks because she had barely any fluid.....ironic!

Hope all is okay x

Thank you very much. Yes I have to have GTT Monday too. I also only have a slightly higher level of fluid but I'll wait and see what Monday brings. Thank u all for ur help xx

It's called polyhydramnious. I had it with my last babe and was induced at 38 weeks. No complications, all perfectly fine xx

Thank u I'm just about to go to my appt with consultant to see what plan is. Thanks for all ur advice xxx

I had extreme polyhydramnios with my DS and was induced at 39 weeks - he's now an extremely boisterous 15 months old Try not to worry ❤️X
