Too common?

Ive recently been thinking about the name Jacob and its really growing on me, i do really like it but im worried that its too common at the moment. ive never come across one where i live but i know the whole "twilight" thing has increased its popularity. Do u think its too common?

If you like it, go with it! We nearly called our son Jacob, but he looked like a Joseph, so that's what we went with. Too many people get hooked up on a name being too popular & to be honest I don't like names that are too bizarre or spelt too differently. I have a friend who spelt her sons name differently than the typical way & used to then get arsey when people sent cards with the name spelt incorrectly.
So if you like Jacob, don't let anyone put you off hun x

We're calling our boy Jack which is always very common but we absolutley love it so we're not bothered. I was always 1 of at least 2 Claire's at school and my OH was always 1 of 2 Stephen's and it never really bothered us. x

Jacob was very high on my list, but like you I was worried it was a little too common....I've ended up choosing something else, but I still think it's a great name and if I hadn't found something I liked better I would have gone with it xx

I think Jacob is a lovely name and if you like it that's what matters! I've chosen Emily and its really popular now but its the name I've wanted for years, I don't mind popular names at all

I know i suppose it doesn't really matter if its popular or not but i usually like things a bit different. When i named Ethan it wasnt very popular and then Danni Minogue had her boy and called him Ethan and now i know loads, i dont really like that Ethan will b one of 3 in his nursery class and was trying to avoid it with this baby! But then no point choosing a name im not mad about just to be different, finding it really hard this time around! x

I love Jacob and having neither seen nor read 'twilight' i don't think it's grown (or decreased) in popularity x I think it's always been quite a popular name but if you really love it then it won't make a difference.

I was worried about the same thing, but jacobs a great name so don't let the sudden twilight phase bother you.
I really liked the name jacob but wanted my son to have a name that was abit more unusual so my baby boys name seems to be leaning towards jacoby ( pronounced jac-o-bee ) but really jacobs a lovely name so go for it.

Yeah i think its sounds nice with Ethan as well.
Its a definate possibility, OH isn't 100% but then i know from past experience if i pick a name now then i will only change my mind when i see the baby! x

i totally agree..whatever that suits your taste whether common or not..should go with it...
