My Little man is 11 weeks tomorrow and finally had his tongue tie picked up at his 8 week check after dropping below the centile he was on.....so has been referred to have it snipped next Saturday (25) took him to be weighed today and he has dropped again :wall2::wall2: not loosing weight just not gaining quick enough! I rang the doctors today and they want to see him tomorrow and he may be admitted then :(

anyone else struggled with a tongue tie?

Has anyones LO had it snipped?

I am so worried/nervous :wall2::wall2:

The tongue tie op is really quick so don't worry yourself about it (I know it's hard when it's your baby, but honestly they cry when it's done but it's over in seconds and they forget about it after a cuddle, same as vaccinations)

Hiya, we had tongue tie op at 2 weeks and it made all the difference to his latch and he started feeding and gaining properly afterwards.

The worst thing about the op was no food for 2 hours before then they were running late and my poor baby needed feeding every 1.5 hours at that stage so we had half an hour of screaming, but as your lo is bigger hopefully you won't have this problem.

The op is very quick and I would say the 8/12 week injections caused him more distress xx

Hi. We had it cut twice with my first. 4 weeks and 12 weeks. 8 days with my second. It made a huge difference.
I couldn't watch the procedure but just waited with boobs out to feed after. It was very fast and was done on the dining room table!

Hi Sarah, we paid to get tongue tie done privately (12week wait on nhs!!)
BEST money ever spent. He soon started gaining weight and feeding is sooo much easier now. Procedure was so quick...we weren't told not to feed him before hand though so I guess it depends who is doing it. Good luck! X

Aaawww thanks for getting back to me girls made me feel alot better!! My Oldest boy who is 4 has a tongue tie but it didnt affect his feeding but now has to have speech therapy :( The health visitors have you so worried about the weight! he is gaining its just on the centile :( xx

Jake had a 100% tongue tie, he couldn't latch into me, and even though he could drink from a bottle he took in slot of air which caused him to get colic. The NHS wouldn't do anything because we are in Wales so I had to go private. The specialist said had we not had it done it would have definitely affected his speech and eating solids. Best thing we ever did though getting it cut. It's a moment of pain for them that they soon forget and won't ever remember. Think it's worse for us watching it xxx
