Had mine and OHs parents over for dinner yesterday and decided it would be a good time to tell them our good news, thought it was quite comical to tell them by way of gift so gave our dads a bag of werther's originals (grandad sweets) and our mums a 'knit your own booties set'! They where both over the moon, although had already guessed (me not drinking being the huge give away), the OHs parents where so sure that they had brought along a gift for me, 40,001 baby names book!

I did tell them I was only 8 weeks, but within an hour I think everyone on their phone book knew they where so excited! But it's really perked me and OH up - it's all feeling so real now and to have this massive amount of support now from the family is so comforting! Roll on 7 months!!

yeah nat you done well, we told our parents straight away xx

Well kind of glad I didn't tell them straight away, been getting calls, texts, fb messages all day from all the people they've told! Ha! They're more excited than we are!

Ahh that's a lovely way to tell them! We did it on mothers day by making cards with scan pictures, meant we had to hide it for weeks though!

I am too scared to tell mine, don't want to disappoint them again if it goes wrong :-(

My reasons for telling is that the in-laws smoke like trains so unless they knew they'd continue to smoke round me or I'd have to avoid them and they'd want to know why. So we told my patents too cos you can't tell one set without the other. But they've been sworn to secrecy, no one else will know til 12 weeks, bar work who have to know :)

1. I'm certain you've got a strong little mcbubba! Keep positive hun, I'm sure everything is going to go perfectly for you
2. Im sure you haven't and won't dissappoint anyone, you can't think like that!!

Xx :hugs:

Thanks natc, I feel really rubbish today and finding the worry really hard to put at the back of my mind x

That is sooo lovely! I love the little "hint" gifts! Fab x

Love the way you told them!

I told my Mum the night I found out - went straight over to see her! She told my Dad lol.

We haven't told OH's parents yet and he has decided he wants to wait til we have had the scan. I'm looking forward to telling them most I think. They desperate for grandkids and don't know we've been ttc :)

xxx

Aw how sweet! We went down the gift route for my parents as well. Went to visit them for easter and told them i had a present. I had gotten a book called The Grandparents Guidebook. They opened it together and when they read the title my mun asked in a teary voice if i was pg :)

No way am I telling my Mum, she'd move in

Which means I can't tell any other family until after our 12-14 week scan.

Told a couple of close freinds who have been through it recently so I have got someone to talk to.

Boss at work knows to but not saying anything else to the others again until I can get the scan out of the way.

Really like that idea. We're hoping to visit my parents either this weekend or the weekend after, whenever they can fit us into their busy schedule! Obviously I can't tell them we need to see them because we've got something to tell them or they would guess, but I want to tell them so I wish they'd hurry up and decide when they are free!

We're visiting OH parents at beginning of June, so we're going to tell them then. They'll all be so excited, I really can't wait to tell them. I doubt OH's parents ever thought he'd have children. He's not that keen on other people's babies, and his first reaction at seeing his neice was 'bit ugly isn't it?', so it's going to be a great surprise for everyone.

As long as he doesn't say that about your LO!!

It's made me more excited now ive told them so hurry your parents up! Xx

Aww that sounds like it was very special ^_^

We told parent's today, shocked but happy for us, it'll be my Mum's first Grandchild so I think she's very excited! OH's parents were great too, his Mum seemed very happy, which has made it more real and exciting for us which is great! As the initial reaction was 'Oh Shit...'

It's so much more comforting knowing they're behind 100% =D
