I am the only girl on my course at uni, and all the guys are a few years younger then me. Anyway, I am quite friendly with one of the guys, he seemed to be the most mature and normal of the lot.

We were chatting a few days ago, and he was asking me if I will be looking for a permanent job this summer after we finish uni. I thought that maybe it's the time to share my news. So I said smth like "Well we are going to have a baby this autumn, so probably not much point for me to start a permanent job". You know what his reply was? It was: "Ok. And I am going too...". Not even "wow" or "congratulations", absolutely nothing! Even his face didn't show any excitement or surprise whatsoever.

I am just glad I tested it out on this guy first. I can't imagine how the other guys at uni would react then - they are even more immature! They probably would just giggle stupidly or smth like that.

Anyway. I wasn't very impressed and will keep my mouth shut now :x Let them think that I'm just getting fat lol.

Men :shakehead:
I'd use the words "I'm Pregnant" I think that'd sink in better with them. Maybe he didn't know what to say???
All the blokes at my work were just like blah blah oh your boobs are gonna get huge - awesome  bar one who gave me a massive hug. Girls are usually far more enthusiastic xx

I've not told anyone at uni yet either, they all about 15 years younger than me and kind of expected the same response you got! I think it is men in general though, most have barely lifted an eyebrow, women on the other hand get so excited, my SIL was a lot more excited than my brother, my hubby's mates wives were also a lot more excited!

My SIL doesn't know yet but when she does she'll pee her pants

oh I know I shouldn't have... It's just there really are not many girls around at the mo, and I wanted to tell someone so much! I didn't expect much, just a "wow, cool" response would be fine! Grr

Maybe he's a bit naive about dates and thought when u said u'd have a baby by autumn u were trying to get pregnant, not that u already actually are??? One of my oh friends today thought pregnancy was 6 months!!! Lol I wish!!

possibly. Still, I was hoping that even the news "we are going to try to get pregnant" might get a bit more enthusiastic response.

I don't think men often give an enthusiastic response to preg related stuff. I told oh last night af was late and he didn't even look up from Corrie and say "oh right, is that good then?" grrrrrrr men! x

At uni I don't think understanding the excitement of pregnancy is top of the agenda for most, esp lads! Cheap booze n nights out r usually favoured if it was anything like my uni! Maybe he was disappointed not to get a wee date off u :-D as cosmic girl says, women area always more interested! :-D
