Today is my Due Date..... (Back from Midwife Apt)

Hi girls

How is everyone doing today?

Well, i must say i had hoped my baby would be here by now but he's clearly too comfy in there.

Actually, last night in bed i felt really crampy, like period pains around my bump and thought 'Yes this is gonna be the starts of it but they've gone away since

Tried a few things to start labour off like eating a load of pineapple but that just gave me killer heartburn. Walked for miles down at the beach on Sunday, had a couple of hot curries (which i love anyway) and sat bouncing on my ball quite a bit last night....

Got a midwife appointment later on today so we'll see what she says. Dont know if she'll suggest a sweep or not, she never mentioned anything about this last week so we'll see. Fingers crossed she does as i really need to get things moving now, i'm so ready to start being a mammy now

I'm praying she suggests a sweep today but if she doesn't do you think i should mention it?

I always had a feeling i was gonna go overdue but think secretly i was hoping baby was gonna prove me wrong.

I'll let you know what happens at my appointment later on this afternoon.

there's no harm with asking her about a sweep, nothing that I can think of anyway I would ask her if I were you good luck at your appointment and I hope all is good

definately ask for one.. I'd like to know whether there is a criteria for doing them? Do you have to be a certain amount overdue??

This is whats got me thinking. Do you have to be say 41 weeks before a sweep is even considered?
I'll ask her and post what she says later.

I think you can ask for a sweep but I was a week over and asked for one and M/W wouldn't do it, had to see the consultant who just booked me in for being induced instead, luckyly my waters broke before that! Might be different for you though hun as I was in slow labour at the time so they wanted to see how I went on my own first. Hope to see your labour thread soon!!

Hi Girls

Well i'm back from my midwife appointment and all is well.

She said they dont offer a sweep at 40 weeks but i will be offered one next week at 41 weeks. So if baby still isn't here by next wed then it looks like i'll be having a sweep then. She said apparantly it only works on approx 30% of women.

I also asked about what happens with induction and she said i will be induced at exactly 42 weeks (not a day before or a day later).

God i hope he arrives earlier than all this sweep/induction malarkey. Come on baby, time to come out now

Glad all is ok but what a bugger about the sweep.. was relying on that tomorrow.. looks like we maybe waiting a little longer now! Do you have to go back next week then?

cant believe it, we've seen eachother thru every stage, now ur due, hope ur LO gets a wriggle on, lots of labour dust..

i know u wont believe me when i say this, but make most out of being preg, yu'll miss it like hell, and try get 1 decent nite sleep (you'll need it hehe) things are sooo diff when LO's here, so many things i never thought of hehe... take care and will look out for ur labour thread xxxx

Was a little bit gutted when she said i wont be offering a sweep this week but i've come this far i can do another week i guess

I cant believe my due date is here either. When i think back to us in TTC, its just flown by.

Its weird isn't it, everyone keeps saying make the most of being pregnant, but i feel so heavy and ready for the baby to be out that i'm prob not appreciating the peace and quiet and chance to relax at the min as much as i should really

Hopefully you'll see my labour thread sooner rather than later
