.... that is the question! I have not spoke to hubby yet about dopplers, and since i have my 2nd MW appt on 4th Oct and she will listen to the heartbeat i am sure i will be amazed and want my hubby to hear what i hear at that appt.

So been toying with the idea of either renting for a few months or buying a doppler.

Does anyone have any good/bad stories with them i.e. really reasurred you hearing the heartbeat or caused unecessary worry if you couldn't find it at that moment?? I really do think i will get one around my 20 week scan so baby is bigger/strong heartbeat but i think i might worry unecessarily if i can't find it.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

i know someone who is selling one if you add me to msn i will be able to give you more details on it hun

i love my doppler! dont know where i would of been without it :cheer:

i will be selling mine soon for around £40 (rach has first refusal)

I bought a doppler in my first trimester as I had bleeding from 6 weeks until 12/13 weeks.

It provided me with a lot of reassurance. After about 14/15 weeks I stopped using it because I felt my babies movements very early on, that was enough to put my mind at rest.

I never used it more than 2/3 times a week, I didn't become obsessive about using it so for me it was a positive experience.

I bought mine off ebay.

It will be nice for baby number two because my son will be able to listen to the heartbeat.

I hired one from www.mybump.com with Ella, it was fantastic! Really put my mind at rest during times of worry before I felt her kick. :)

Bagpuss, I have a question for you. At what stage in your 1st trimester could you hear your babys heartbeat? I am 8 weeks tomorrow and don't get my scan for at least another 4-7 weeks (been given conflicting dates from the crappy local hospital). Would I be able to hear a heartbeat with a doppler? How easy is it to use? I would like to be reassured as some of my symptoms seem to have disappeared although I have not had any bleeding. Thanks.

Ive got a Hi Bebe doppler and bought it at 11 weeks and picked up heartbeat straight away. Some of the ones on ebay are not true dopplers, theyre amplifiers for use in later pregnancy. I think the oval shaped ones are amps and the mic shaped ones are dopplers.

Love mine, very reassuring, have even transferred a recording onto me phone so can listen :)

We have rented a doppler for a month from the same place as Kina.
I would really recommend it. It's fantastic to hear the baby's heart beat - it really makes me feel connected and it's great for my husband too.

I would strongly recommend it. I got one last week and tried it for the first time (I'm 9 weeks preggies). Couldn't hear anything the first time, but tried again next day and found it!! I realised I moved it too fast the first time so I missed the baby completely. I've got the Hi Bebe BT-200 with display screen, so if you can't hear the heart immediately it shows something on the screen then you know you're onto something and should move slower. It was a very emotional experience for hubby and me, especially because I've been a bit worried that I have to wait 12 weeks for a scan and 15 weeks to see the mw...
