This is a question I probably shouldn't ask a forum full of women I don't know haha but ..... Is it true most women poo while giving birth!? X

Yep.

I did.

I knew I had and couldn't have cared less!!

You'll be far too busy to worry about a bit of poop! The midwives have seen it all before.

I puked, pooped, wet the bed and had a doctor stick his finger up my bum hole!! Having a baby is awesome!!!

:-)

I had an emergency C-section last time but I was in labor for a while beforehand and I had loose poo in the loo as your bowels try to get ready for the event. I do know that a lot of women poop while giving birth which is nothing to be ashamed of. It doesn't happen to everyone. :)

Yes apparently so! Lots of women do, some don't even realise they have done it.

But don't panic, the midwife won't even mention it. They just throw tissues over it, pick it up and toss it away. If you haven't noticed or if you do and don't say anything, they don't mention it.

There's a baby's head squeezing down a pretty narrow area so anything that is already in that area is coming out lol xx

I did with my second. I actually was sat on the toilet trying to have a poo when my waters broke. I had to go to hospital in an ambulance. A pool wasn't available so I was in the bath pushing, convinced I had had my baby. I hadn't , I had a huge poo and my husband scooped it up in a jug.

We laugh about it now but I was horrified xx

xjdx - I'm so sorry, but I had to laugh!! I would have died if that were me. It's good that you can look back and laugh though.

I imagine I'll be one of the lucky ones who poos myself haha, I'd just rather it be where I can't see it, not in the bath or on the floor hahah. Oh god, this is all so glamorous xx

xjdx - I'm with Lulu on this one, I had to laugh but I don't think I could look at a bath or my DH the same way again. For a while at least. :)

I did.

I remember thinking "did I just poop?" But it (both poop and thought) was gone before I could register it any more.

I don't even bat an eye over it, and I'm a shy person xx

All the force that's there you can't be surprised that a lot of women poo. I've been lambing sheep for the last 5 years and horribly when you help a sheep deliver a big lamb they poo to, it's minging but I'm always super nice (I'm a softy) and sweep it out of the way politely- I've always done this thinking to myself "hopefully when I give birth the midwife will be super nice to me and just get rid without any embarrassment"

As far as I'm aware I didn't, but I honestly believe I could have and wouldn't even have know! Honestly it will be the last thing on your mind, and if it helps give baby space to come through you would probably quite happily poo anywhere when jt comes to it! Xx

Haha emily I had the 'finger up the bum' thing too! I was not prepared for that! Haha! Doctor had a really strong accent and I couldn't really understand what he was saying so I just said 'yes.' Next thing I knew..... Eeeek! I also had a catheter fitted but they didn't attach the end to the bag properly so the tube sprayed everywhere. Again, in the midst of pushing, I couldn't care less! Labour is brill

Omg xjdx, I'm sorry but I couldn't stop giggling at that! I can well imagine how you must have felt at the time, good on you for being able to laugh at it now!

I pooed in the last bit of pushing and didn't even realise it! I was so high on gas and air, I just didn't notice. I remember feeling so proud that I hadn't pooed, it took a while for hubby to fess up bless him.

Haha these responses made me laugh! birth is such a 'magical' experience to look forward to!
Not that Im sure I will care but why does the doctor sometimes need to put his finger up your bum??
Xxx

To check if you've torn and to give a little painkiller.

I pooed and I had a c sec! The poor theatre staff

Natural or not, I don't want to poop myself in front of other people, OH included

I can't stop laughing at this thread, this is all so glamorous please remind me why we do it haha. I want a water birth and will be mortified if I poo in the pool! Xx

I did but I had no idea that I had until hubby told me afterwards..as someone said, it shows that your doing all the "right" pushing lol.
