does anyone else feel totally drained after a bf/expressing session?

luke was very good last night and slept from about 2:00 until 6:45 then went back down after his breakfast and change at 7:15 until 10am. me and hubby decided to take advantage and enjoy a lie in for a chnage so we got good amounts of sleep

but after i express my milk i just feel so tired!

does this get any better?

Mine's having a hungry day and I'm with you - I'm exhausted. On a normal day though I'm very much back to normal energy levels. It does get better :-)

i just feel like i could drop off any minute but i know i have to express again soon so i cant. im also expecting a dirty nappy rather soon lkol. its the first night ive been on my own since baby was born too.

I really struggle to stay awake during the night feeds, it makes me incredibly tired and also really thirsty

I used to nibble on a biscuit when breast feeding dd and drink some water or juice to help with the tiredness. I remember that overwhelming feeling that comes over you!

Apparently your body releases some hormone when you breastfeed to make you sleepy! I remember my midwife telling me that. Quite useful at night so you can go straight back to sleep but not so during the day!!

Irony is I'm sat feeding ATM and am reading the forum to keep stimulated ! I'm also dead thirsty and as soon as this little one goes down I'm guna have to go get a pint of squash!

He's just squeeled half the street down having a nappy change!!

I agree with being thirsty - for me it's almost instant, the minute I start to BF I get this overwhelming thirst - it's weird!!

I'm starting to think my tiredness has more to do with my tinzaparin. I'm on a whopping dose (7000) due to my bmi (even though I lost a stone after birth which they didn't calculate into my allowance!) and I'm on ot for 6 weeks. My blood loss is also gwtting heavier and my headaches are getting very severe so in going to mention it to HV tomorrow as I want to come off it... I'm active and everything despite my section just under 2 weeks ago but I feel fine and walked all day yesterday. Nor sitting in the house all day or anything
