Tell them you’re taking Flagyl (metronidazole) antibiotics. You most definitely cannot drink when taking these as I had an abscess in my mouth recently and was prescribed these by the dentist and it was written all over the box and he specifically said I will have awful side effects of I drink alcohol whilst taking them and for 3 days after.

Or you could just have a spritzer or a becks blue in a glass

I’ve taken things to the extreme as we’re going away for a friend’s 30th this weekend, his girlfriend has rented a house in the countryside for us all to stay in (read drinking from Friday night to Sunday afternoon) so because I’m only 8 weeks and not telling anyone I have filled up two empty screwtop wine bottles with non alcoholic wine!! I realise I sound like a loon but no one will believe the antibiotics story and people with just feel bad for me if I ‘can’t drink’ so I’m fully conning all of them 😂
