Can my husband take paid time off work for tests and scans? We cant find it anywhere about what he can have off as paid. I know im entitled to have time off for these things and i will get paid but cant find anything at all about fathers rights to time off.

Does any one know? I think it would help him if he went with me and i need a taxi driver :rotfl: (doctors is an hour away from work)

That's a good question I am not sure.
Maybe for scans but i should think they might be able to for anti-natel appointments.
My OH is just taking it as holiday!!!
xx

well my boyfriend doesnt get paid time off for paternity leave.
he works for dfs and his mates girlfriend has just had a baby, and he took 2 weeks paternity leave but he didnt get paid, so all the lads from work put money into a jar every week for when she had the baby

I dont think they do get paid time off for appointments.

No im afraid dads dont get paid time off for antenatal appoiontments, thats just you.

My ex takes holidays so that he can get paid.

But then, he hasn't told anybody in his work that i'm pregnant (yes, that is 23 weeks on my ticker)!

Don't get me started on him.....*recites to self* "Remember your blood pressure!" :x :x

No legal right to paid time for antenatal appointments (although depending on where he works they may allow him the time off anyway - we're lucky in that respect)

However if he's been with his employer for 6 months then he'll be entitled to 2 weeks' paid paternity leave.

This is likely to increase to around 6 months in the next couple of years - government currently negotiating with business. Some of this will be taken out of your maternity leave though - it's a policy for flexibility, not for more leave for both parents.

At my partners work he only gets the statutary amount which is around £100 per week, I think its so unfair that his work wont pay him full pay grrrr

1 week paid and 1 weelk unpaid at my work for dads, it's managers discretion too

My Hubby will get 2 weeks full pay when baby arrives, but has to use holidays if he wants to attend any appointments like scans and mw clinics. xx

oh no! hes going to be so upset! he wanted to take time off to be there for me and bean and he doesnt want to use Annual leave because he wants to use all 25days when baby is born :(

Not sure about all companies/jobs etc but when DH applied he was told YES he is allowed time off for the scans, midwife appointments and antenatal classes etc - not sure all companies etc are the same but I'm very grateful he's been allowed them off without a pay deduction. He's also just been told he can have paternity leave as full pay instead of the standard paternity pay too and we do know that is up for negotiation with any company your husbands work for as we past the info onto a friend of ours (in a regular joe type job) and he's just been awarded full pay for his 2 weeks paternity also. It's worth asking and digging around, amazing what you'll come up with.

yes i think they should get reasonable amount of time off too. x

My partner is getting 2 weeks full pay paternity leave... this is at his employers digression... there are also some basic conditions to getting leave and pay....but there are legal requirements he must meet...ie, he is an employee not a 'worker' or 'self employed'..see link for more details..... I think Every working dad should have 2 weeks at even basic paternity pay...although thats really low :talkhand: but unfortunately it isn't a law YET!..... still talking about it..

Take a look at the official site... see if it helps you.. but note the 15 weeks notice he must give!!

by law dads are entitled to 2 weeks paternity leave at the statutory rate, i cant remember what that is, if they have been working for their employer for longer than 6 mths. Just like we do they have to inform their employer by week 25.

My OH is getting paid time off for appointments, whether that is at his works discretion i dont know - he just tells them when the appts are and they are fine

my other half is getting 2weeks off but low pay be something like £100. for teh 2weeks right?

he normally picks up £200 a week sucks really but then hes saved some money :)
