So we've still not mastered the breastfeeding. Baby getting tons of milk, no issue there but every feed is agony. I'm still working with Hv to get the latch right.
Byway, I'm pretty sure my sorest nipple now has thrush. It's really itchy and burns constantly, poor baby is also quite unsettled so I imagine he has a sore mouth too :(
Il try and see the doctor ASAP but any advice in the meantime to help either of us? I'm uncomfortable but can deal wih it, I hate the thought of my baby having it though :(

Oh Jessie... Sorry to hear that. I didn't even know you can get thrush on nipples???

I hope your little baby isn't suffering :( poor thing

As you say, try to see a doctor today. I don't have any advice, just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you guys. X

Thanks Bigbee I really appreciate it.
Yea it's easy to get when your nipples get cracked and sore, mine are a right mess and bleed when he feeds so I knew it was just a matter of time. Managed to get in with the doctors at half 10 so should be able to start treating us both.
My poor little baby with a sore mouth :(

Glad you were able to see gp, you need a week's worth of treatment for both of you to get rid of it completely. Baby feeding shouldn't be causing agony, even with thrush, so have a look online at oversupply or foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. A classic symptom is agonising feeds! It also affects baby's latch so if you're having trouble with that too then take a look. Kellymom is a really helpful website in my experience.

Thank you kumber, really appreciate that. Will take a look at the website as well. I think the pain is more down I not quite having the latch right because the pain eases after about 10 seconds, but I could literally scream all the way through those first 10 seconds. We've just picked up the thrush treatment so I'm hoping that will help my nipples to start recovering so that we can have a more comfortable latch but whilst they're in this state I don't think it matters how I feed him it hurts like hell!

Hey hun

I don't have any experience of thrush but had just about every other bf-ing problem going, including bleeding nipples.

I just wanted to reassure you that if you continue, the first 10 seconds of pain does go away after a while!

Hope you & baby feel better soon xx

Thank you tinselcat. We'll definately be persevering but I'm looking forward to being able to feed without all the pain me anxiety that goes with it. I get nervous when he wakes because it means feeding time which brings so much pain, it's not like you see in the movies where the glamorous mum just opens a top a little and baby goes on happy as Larry with no fuss lol.
Oh well, we'll get there.

Jessie, I'm only just about starting to get the hang of breastfeeding, but I had sore nipples...and they still sometimes hurt when he latches on. Goes away after a few seconds. Midwife said its normal, so I wouldn't panic just yet :)

Thanks Bigbee. Baby has there'll tale sign of a white coated tongue so it's definately thrush. I feel like my nipples are very slowly starting to recover with the treatment so hopefully it's easing for him too.
