Lol.

My 5 1/2 month old is really annoying me when I feed him. Starting a couple of days ago he's started 'bouncing' when I feed him, he pushes with his feet whilst he's lying across my lap meaning he loses his latch... I don't know how to stop him, I've tried cradling him but he pushes with his legs instead then... also when I'm switching sides he bounces as well and has almost ended up on the floor a couple of times... helllppp!

I think the standard advice for bubbas that are "misbehaving" during feed is to give a firm no, take them off the breast & place them down for a minute, then resume with feeding. They soon learn that they don't get anything by being "naughty" x

Thanks :-) I'll try that. I didn't want to use the word 'no' too much but if it works and I can feed him properly again... x

Often it's a sign they are full and you can stop the feed. My LO also does it when she has a sore tummy or needs burping though. She has done it since she was about 6 weeks old. I had an easy start to BFing with almost no pain so I guess I'm having to make up for it now lol. She really yanks on my nipple as she breaks the latch. Then repeats it again and again. I sympathize with how you feel, I get quite strong involuntary feelings of irritation sometimes which is worse than the pain.

We discovered LO has food allergies and things have improved a lot since I changed my diet. She still does it sometimes but I either stop or just power through. I've found doing something else like browsing PF on my phone helps distract me and I don't get so fustrated. Lying down on my side while I feed works really well also. With an older LO that is just getting distracted I think saying no and stopping the feed temporarily could be quite effective though.

Thanks for the replies, I am hoping it is just a phase as he's not done it before now! Sorry to to hear of the problems you've both had, bfing can be tough! :-( xxxxx

Still I'm glad I don't have to deal with serilizing bottles lol. I'd guess it's just a phase too I hope he gets over it soon.

My lo does it too. Playing with a necklace distracts him. They all do it, be patient :) They become nosey and learn new things
Bfing a toddler is even more interesting.

Forgot to say, if they bite or yank, stern no and take off the breast. Then restarr after a minute. My son only tried biting down couple of times but soon learn. I BFed him until 14 months and only stopped because supply dropped because of the pregnancy
