Hi ladies.

Been thinking lots about my TTC journey and I think I should be in this part of the TTC forum.

We've been trying for a baby for almost a year (just a few days off!) and I am still working my body out. I have long irregular cycles which vary between 60-100+ days.

I've been using Agnus Castus this cycle, am on CD24 today and still getting good lines on OPKs, I've had a few I thought were positive but then seen another and thought THAT one was positive etc etc... It's been frustrating!!

Anyways. My GP is absolutely useless regarding my TTC stuff, refused to do anything for us and when we did eventually get a scan, he had no idea what the results meant. All he could say was that there were "a few follicles" there but whether it was PCOS, he had no idea because it was so mild.

We had asked for further testing to determine whether it was indeed PCOS and he refused. :(

We're unable to change GP's as local surgeries are all full and my current one only took me on as my husband was already registered there.

Think we'll finish this cycle and see what the results are and then decide from there whether we'll try and see a gyno or try the AC again.

Can't believe it's come to almost a year already. :(

Hiya MissJ

Sorry to see you in here but sometimes it helps to be surrounded by people in similar circumstances so hopefully it'll do you some good :)

I can't imagine how horrible it must be for you having such crazy cycles and a right plonker for a GP. Can't to switch to a different GP within the same surgery?

It will definitely help I reckon. We asked about switching but they said that the only other person there was the nurse - the other doctor is rarely there! x x

Hey Miss J, I recently made the decision to move here too as we have been off contraception for 2 years now. As Louise says its good sometimes to have other folk who are more in your situation as well. Hope you get your BFP or your cycles sorted soon. I bought agnus castus to try when I eventually get an af again! Good to hear your thoughts on it too!

All the good looking people are in LTTTC ;)

Your situation really frustrates me. Why is your doctor going through your scan results when he doesn't know what he is looking at .... Ridiculous!!

I would ring up all the local surgeries again and double check if they are accepting new patients, find out how far you can look for surgeries maybe try one aittle bit further away.

I went to the doctors because my cycles were just like yours and it turned out I did have a problem, it is so important you know these things so you can start appropriate treatment.

Can you ask your doctor for a referral to a specialist, maybe kick up a fuss if he declines.

I really hope you get something sorted soon hun, but for now all us ladies will look after you xxx

Totally agree with you Laura. :) x x

With regards to the AC, I've been taking 2 capsules twice per day which adds up to 1600mg, I took it from CD1 upto CD15 then resumed it yesterday I think, or the day before.. Am on CD24 now and still no idea whether I've ovulated or not cos my OPKs seem to throw dark ones at me quite frequently!! :strangle:

Aw, that's so lovely, I welled up! x x

My hubby has been through the fertility stuff before with previous partner so I know that he's totally fine, so the issue must obviously lie with me and ovulation - I think that's why I get so many lines on my OPKs? Could be wrong of course!!

We asked my GP for a referral last time we went to see him and he refused and told us we hadn't tried for long enough to be seen by anyone, so we will probably end up going over his head and just going to a hospital or something, if we can? We've even considered going private, if it would help!

Thank you hun, I really appreciate it. :hugs:

too true!! hee hee :rotfl:

we all seem to be swapping over here so dont feel alone!! ive got quite far with being insistent with my gp this month so FX you can get some answers soon!!

definetly try to see if another gp will take you cos the 1 you have seems like a right pr**k!!

good luck :hugs:

Vickys right all the best people are in LTTTC! ;)

Sorry MissJ, Have you done any research on PCOS? as others say i would try get another GP, Going private for a least the tests for it, blood and another scan maybe an option also if you have the cash? as if you do have it you need treated hun. then if you have the diagnosis you can take it to your GP.

As things go if i were you i would make a complaint about your GP, to the practice manager, if your results were possible PCOS then he has a duty of care to further investigate you FACT! the one thing i learned from my poor NHS treatment is you really have to be your own advocate as nobody else will. Dr's dont have infinate knowledge and yours sounds like he dosnt know much :(

Hope you are ok hun. xx

Thanks ladies. :) x x

Drummerswife - Thanks hun, think I need to have another chat with hubby and see what he wants to do as well. It can't all come from me, plus I want him to be happy with whatever we need to do - although I know nobody wants to go through fertility tests or anything but it's progress...right? Will defo chat to him when I get the right moment. x x

Nurse - I have read a little bit and to be honest it does sound like PCOS could be the issue. However I do remember having blood tests done with my previous GP cos she was amazed my cycles were so far apart and sent me straight off for bloods to check for pcos and they came back fine. It would be FAB if she were my GP but unfortunately she was covering for my normal one, then when I got married I moved to my new practice. I reckon we will try again at the docs and if we still get refused any tests or referral then we will defo have to complain, it's totally unfair - my GP even has the gall to spend the entire time (30 mins last time) just talking over us and squashing our concerns. :strangle:

I'm ok, actually happier in a way cos I feel like I've accepted there's something not quite right and I'm just glad to be trying to sort it out. :D

what part of your cycle did you have the scan and what did you see?

Grrrr your GP is such a twat! defo complain, sometimes thats the only way to get what you want, especially if you put it in writing so its official, as i say complaints must be investigated and he has a duty of care. xx

Ah i see, i was reading that elevated levels of LH hormone is a sign of PCOS hun, sorry to be all doom and gloom but that would maybe explain your crazy OPK's and i think theres a few other problems assosiated with it, maybe have a google.

xx
