Sorry if this is contraversial but IVF should only be freely available to women who are unable to have babies and desperately want one, not people like that who could conceive naturally but have chosen not to.

well said maybebaby..i agree 100% ur totaly right they shouldnt even of got free IVF when there are so so so many woman well couples desperate to have a family yet they end up havinbg to pay thousands for IVF treatment...how is that fiar and as for claiming compensation for twins...well ive never heard anything like it

I agree that what the couple is doing are sick, but frankly, lesbians don't just CHOOSE to be lesbians, they simply are. Just like you could never repeatedly have sex with a girl (if you're incredibly straight, I have no idea), they couldn't just repeatedly have sex with a man. It would be absolutely traumatizing to them and probably wouldn't even work.

Turkey basters would eliminate the whole male thing... they didn't need to have IVF... and then the possibility of having twins would have been reduced, even then not eliminated..

Women want IVF rather than a turkey baster because I assume it's more efficient, plus it would be hard for a lesbian couple to find a man who can provide sperm 'on tap' for a turkey baster.

I agree that lesbians can't help being lesbians. They can't be forced to shag a man to have a child. That would be really nasty- like one of us being forced to shag someone we thought was a real turn-off.

I saw a program on it the other day and there are loads of men wanting to do it but wont because of the whole problem of that the child is allowed to obtain their fathers details when older.

I think its ridiculous, you'd think they would feel blessed to have more than one child. And plus woever said it before even if they put in one egg you cant gurntee it wouldnt split into 2 or even more eggs. some people make your blood boil.

I'll be the minority here then. While I dont believe these women should be suing, i can understand why they are upset and have gone the lawsuit route. They asked for ONE egg to be implanted not TWO. Regardless of whether both eggs had taken or not just by implanting that extra egg the doctor went against his patients wishes. That's not right, it wasn't for him to decide that, it was his job to make sure the procedure was done the way the patient expected it to be.

If they were suing because the had identical twins because an egg spilt then yes id agree they would be ungrateful monsters but that's not the case is it, they are suing because a doctor messed up.

Having read the article they said they only wanted one embryo put in at the last minute, but the hosp still put in 2. Seems a bit wierd to complain tho.

yeah even though they had already signed consent form saying it was ok to put two embryos in. Didnt they read the paper work? its not like they were buying a tv or something .
