Hi All,

I am sure this would have been discussed before but I could not find a thread to understand how long before we need to book it..Most of the companies are booking it for 6 weeks so should we be booking it at 32 weeks as probability of going in labor starts from 38th week right..

sorry i think I am being dumb but really confused..and does it really help...

I don't know much about it tbh, but surely you can 'add on' time to your rental period if you need it longer? Best to get it early I should think, so you can get to know how it all works beforehand :)

i got a flyer about it from my midwife, sayin u cant collect it until 37weeks, but rent it for £20 for 5 weeks, but not sure when u need to put ur name down on them tho, where are you looking at renting it from?

I raised it with my mw at my last appt as she forgot to lol. I rented mine through my doctors. They wouldn't rent it out till 38 weeks so I got mine yesterday. Cost me £15 to hire and I can keep it as long as I need.

I would raise it with your mw Loveleen and she will advise you on where to get one and when. It must be different from area to area though. If a company only rents it out for 6 weeks you'd be better getting it from about 36/37 weeks cos then you could have it all the way through to 42/43 weeks without having to pay more. The one I have is quite simple to use.

Thanks All..I am thinking of renting through mothercare. I do know that there are few companies who come in the baby show event in london who charge quite less for rent so I am looking forward to the show to actually book it if I have a good deal..

Any one else has booked tickets for the baby show event in london at that time..

i tried a TENS machine on my hands today in my NCT class. It felt so weird! My husband turned it up to the highest setting (typical man) and my fingers were moving all on their own. It was very strange.

I'm not sure whether or not to have one - on one hand it would be nice to have the option and it may work, on the other, I may not get on with it at all. Decisions, decisions...

The physio who showed me the one I have did it on my fingers too and it is wierd. She said that the fingers were more sensitive to it than your back so although it felt really wierd it prob won't feel as wierd on your back.
