Have any of you told work your pregnant yet? Im 13 weeks, i want to tell work at the start of December, do you think this is too late? Ill be 18 weeks. xxx
I don't think you have to tell them til 25 weeks but i suppose it depends on what type of work you do and if you think you or the baby will be put at risk if they don't know. I've not had that particular problem as I got made redundant a few months ago after working at the same place for nearly 20 years !
As long as you tell them before 25 weeks then thats fine! Its completely up to you! I told them the day i come back from the scan mainly because i wanted it to be over and done with and i had a massive belly and didn't want them thinking i just ate too much!
I guess it depends how big you get... I'm 18 weeks tomorrow have have a noitcable bump now so people I hadn't told guessed. You won't be able to get the MATB1 (the official form to say you are pregnant) until after 20 weeks and while I have told work HR/payroll won't calculate mat leave pay etc until I submit the form.
That said they are giving me a workstation assessment and those type of things so that I am a bit more comfortable than leaning over a laptop!
i think 18 weeks is fine, its totally your choice and your employer should know that you dont have to tell them any erlier than 25 weeks. i told my boss before i was 12 weeks, only because i had really bad sickness and it was affecting my work and needed them to udnerstand why i was being late so much in the morning, but had i been fine i would have waited longer. remember though that they wont know to put the neccessary risk assessments in place until they know
thanks girls! I will def tell them at the start of dec, im showing like crazy even if it is bloatness at the moment and I just want everyone to know! lol xxx
I told my office as soon as I had my 12 weeks scan (mind you I told my boss unofficially a few weeks before). I mainly told them cuz I thought they're was no point hiding it, as my tummy would soon pop out.
Glad I did tell them thou, they're very understanding.
No lifting boxes, shorter hours, time out to go rest if I need to.
