Tomorrow night we are going to tell my parents that we are pg...
I think they should be happy - this will be their first grandchild, but my mum has a knack of saying just the wrong thing and upsetting me.
I really don't want her to ruin the moment.....

Any tips??? :)

UPDATE - it was fine in the end.
I'd bought a little book called ' So You're a grandparent' and we were sat round the table. I said I've got a little gift for you that might be handy after christmas, then I just put the book on the table. My mum just kept looking at it then at me, but she was very smiley and a little teary. They were both chuffed to bits and it turns out my mum has been knitting bay clothes for the last 6 months  she was obviously hoping for some news!!!
I feel so relieved!!!!! :D Just hope everything goes ok now and I haven't got them all excited for nothing.

Hey Kmac

I dont have any tips because it is not something I have ever done before but I wanted to wish you lots and lots of luck, I am sure they will be very happy for you. At least you know that your Mum has this Knack so you are prepared!

Thanks Sally
You would think I would be used to her by now, yes... but she never fails to surprise me. She recently didn't speak to me for 4 weeks because she was in a huff, and was planning on waiting until tomorrow to 'have it out with me' at least we sorted that out already.

I really hope it goes OK. Keep us posted! I am scared about telling my MIL...she always seems to say hurtful things to me (when no one else is around!)

hope all goes well. no tips from me either sorry

good luck tomorrow
i dont really have any tips but you would think i would have having been there 7 times with my mum :rotfl: all i can say is she will likely be over the moon but she will probabally be shocked, every time i tell my mum she goes like she is going to faint :rotfl: and try not to get upset if she says the wrong thing as going by past history it could end up causing you unwanted stress

good luck

i want to tell my mum now  she is going on holiday next week so im going to try and get a scan done and if everything is ok at scan( ) i will tell her when she comes home :cheer:

good luck hun hope it goes well for you  xxxxxxxx

good luck  just remember its your body, your baby, your descision, parents sometimes worry too much and say things without thinking how it affects you.
We told our parents, not one said congratulations  my mum was concerned as im overweight, although i am going to the gym and eating well, so no reason to put weight on, my dad was concerned about money :wall: as we'r attempting to get a mortgage, but we have all the baby stuff from last dd, and mil, well, she wanted to know how i would be able to carry on working, we run our own business so im mainly at home anyway :wall: :wall: but although it upsets me, at the end of the day it was our descision, we'r happy so sod em!!!! :moon: thats what i say

aww good luck i'm sure it'll be ok and they will be happy for you :D

I'm glad it went well for you. Don't worry about having got them excited "for nothing". If something were to happen then you need to have your family supporting you and the last thing you'd want is to have to carry it alone.

I told my my as soon as I knew all three times and even though last time it didn't work out I was glad she knew.

On a more positive note... you can now try and influence they type of things you want knitted!!!

Really good news Kmac. How do Mums just know these things!

Sounds like you have the makings of some good grandparents there! :cheer:
