Hi! So I'm currently 7 weeks with my 2nd child, ds is 3 1/2.

We are definitely waiting until after our 12 week scan to tell him and possibly another week or two as we're going to a wedding without him for a few days.

Question is, do we wait even longer? Will it be too long of a wait for baby if we tell him that soon?

Can anyone recommend any good books that will help explain it to him?

Any tips gratefully received.

I told my Dd at 12 weeks but tbh even though we'd done our very best to keep it from her she knew. She was 2.5 at the time. We'd told our parents and no one else as I didn't want anyone else to know before dd. The day of my 12 week scan husband and I went to pick her up from nursery and planned to take her out for a nice lunch and tell her. When I got to the nursery the staff were buzzing with excitement saying "she says she's getting a baby sister, how far along are you?" I was shocked and like "yes we're having a baby but she doesn't know that yet"

It was a long wait for her for baby to come but I'd have hated it if someone else told her or others knew before her. I just kept making sure she was involved helping fold the washing and organise the nursery etc she loved having helpful jobs relating to baby

Aww bless her! I’ve told a handful of close relatives and my best friend but they won’t say anything to him. I hope he doesn’t work it out, but I can’t wait to tell him, he loves babies!
