When do i need to change finley onto a medium flow teat? hes still on the newborn ones and every now and then he seems to be crying as though the milk aint coming out fast enough, but then other times hes fine and happy just sucking it normally instead of trying to gulp it?

Sophie got changed onto medium flow teats at just a few weeks old as my MW suggested it as she was getting really bad wind due to sucking so hard on the teats to actually get any milk out, and was totally tiring herself out with all the effort it took!
Maybe you could try Finaly with them, if he's crying sometimes he;s maybe not getting the milk fast enough for his liking!

i gave him a bottle earlier on with a medium flow teat, he drank it without falling asleep for once, and hardly had any wind, was a much more pleasureable experience, so im glad i tried now

we're the opposite 
just changed luke back to size 1 teats as he had bad wind from gulping it so fast. he has been on size 2 since birth as he didn't have a very good sucking action and got frustrated as he couldn't get the milk!!
