teat sizes and variflow teats

When I changed Sophie to comfort milk, it meant that I ended up changing her to variflow teats and using the tommee tippee bottles again because I didnt realise how you used comfort milk and it just seemed to clog up the teats in the Dr Browns bottles, even the size 3 teats.

My problem is, I think the variflow teats that I have are now warped and dont seem to hold any milk in at all and LO doesnt even seem to need to suck on the teat as the milk just pours out into her mouth?!

Could anyone take pictures of their variflow teats for me?


Shes on second stage milk now anyway so tonight I changed her back to the Dr Browns bottles with the level 3 teats. Its seemed to have sorted out the problem of me getting her to sleep as she fell asleep on the bottle after drinking the usual amount of milk that she has at bedtime. The only problem is that it seemed to take ages for her to have a bottle using those teats, I think though Im just not used to her having to work for the milk and her having her bottle within 5 minutes max?

Can I ask what teats everyone elses 6/7/8 months old are using??

None at present but J is same age as yours and i really want to know what type to buy as I desperately need to get him off the breast all day and night!

I think it really confused me as the level 3 seemed to take forever for the milk to come out but then again thats compared to the milk pissing out everywhere like it was with the variflow ones.

if you look at the variflow in the shop brand new and the ones you have at home you might notice the 'cross' which lets the milk through is much bigger than brand new, i noticed this a few months back. how long have you had them? cause i think over time they just get bigger with los mouth/gums chomping on it, and also with the scrubbing each time they're washed. also when i pull the teat through the screwy bit i probably make it worse by pulling on the teat tip itself if that makes sense? x

That's what's happened to them! I think I'll see how she goes with the level 3s to save some money and then if all else fails I'll go buy some new variflow ones xx

Second stage I mean the follow on stuff from 6 months, I just thought that with no real difference from it and first milk other than the price I may as well change her on to it xx
