Ouchy...Im in so much agony in my bits!

I had a 2nd degree tear and baby also managed to rip off one side of my labia  The labia was left unstitched and looks scary  Weeing is a nightmare, even pouring warm water over when I go or weeing in the bath stings so much. I managed one number 2 on the second day but havent been since. It doesnt look infected or anything, it just feels terrible.

Does anyone have any advice on anything I can do to help it? Im going to 'air' my bits to try and speed up healing and also doing pelvic floor excercises, taking pain killers, keeping everything clean and having sitz baths a few times a day etc but if there is anything else I can do Id appreciate advice sooooo much. Its really getting me down :(

lavender essential oil - a few drops in a warm bath will help ease discomfort temporarily.

I hope it heals soon :(

Badedas bubble bath also really helps the healing process. When I had Jamie the midwife recommended it and it was fab, this time I went out and bought it in preparation. There is horse chestnut in it or something which is soothing. Hope it eases for you soon

Add lots of salt to your baths as well as the Lavendar Oil, it doesn't sting so don't worry (or at least it shouldn't), and only wear cotton pants.

Get some Arnica from Boots and take as directed, you can't overdose on it anyway, but that should help take the edge off. I have heard Calendula Ointment is great too but cannot say from personal experience.

Speak to your HV about your pain killers too, if you feel they're not working or you need something stronger, you may need to see the GP for that though too.

Really hope it starts to feel better soon for you, sending very best wishes

Sarah, if you remember, one side of mine was ripped off too and remains that way and will do forever!

It was very sore afterwards and I made sure that I showered the area every morning and every night and took lavender oil baths as often as I possibly could.

Make sure you only dab the area, never wipe!!!! It will heal hun, I know it is really sore now but it will be fine. Mine took a while - probably near on 5 weeks or so and part of me is still uncomfortable now (there is another thread on that LOL)

Take some painkillers though....

Oh hun, I can totally sympathise with you. It does get better...promise  Try taking a bath in tea tree oil, it will stop infections, also maybe do what I did and drip some of the oil on a cold flannel and dab the effected area. It really soothes it, especially when it starts to heal and becomes a little itchy. G3M told me it would help, that it would sting, but be a nice stingy...it was, really relieved it.

Hope you feel better soon

In our ante natal classes the midwife recommended distilled withc hazel, you can get it cheap in Wilko and Savers; its more expensive in boots.

Definitely salty baths, they really help. Sitting with legs akimbo in the noody is a great idea too to let everything get some fresh air. Just be careful where you choose to do it  . Don't worry hun it doesn't last long I had a 2nd degree tear too  .[/code]

i was told to avoid salty baths at first as the salt water can cause the stitches to dissolve too quickly, before the wound has had chance to heal

i had a 2nd degree tear too - lots of baths with tea tree oil, and i took arnica and lots of paracetamol. it was hell for days and i cried when i went to the toilet. but it does get better.

I don't have any advice as I've been extremely lucky and have only had 1st degree tears that didn't need stitches.

Just wanted to give you a big hug hun, I hope your lady bits are better soon

wipe with baby wipes - take arnica as mine healed within a week and i had a 2nd deg tear too xx

thankyou so much girls!

Ive made a shopping list and Im going to hobble to get them later :) I have been using Arnica which is helping with the bruising I think as 'the area' isnt swollen at all. I cant believe my labia is torn off though! I just read your thread Debbie about it! Poor you   Its only really that bit that hurts, I have a hell of alot of stitches in the perenium and muscle inside but they dont really bother me at all..its always the stingy bits

Horrible isn't it Sarah and even worse that it will never heal! That's what freaked and still freaks me out now!

yes it is rather disturbing  Looking on the bright side, it narrowly missed the clitoris which is good :)

I know hun, God it sounds as though we are exactly the same! I had an investigate earlier...sorry TMI and its only touchable from one side (clit) its ripped right up the other side. At least it hasnt ripped it off, that really would be depressing!!

i havent read every ones replies so sorry if im double posting any one..

i also tore my labia

my advise is to drink LOADS!!! it dilutes your pee so much u will be peeing water basically and wont hurt at all, only the first pee of day hurts.

also pour witch hazel on ur sanitary towel and put it in freezer for a few hours!!! weird i know...but the cooling reduces swelling and witch hazel brings out bruising quicker.

also after peeing dont wipe, i used to drip dry :rotfl:

mine was healed within a week enough to have sex again. I normally heal badly and very prone to infections so all these things seemed to work well.

i wasnt stitched either as im allergic to the material they use :wall: i had to stick my fingers up every hour for first few days as i had indentical tears on each labia about 1cm wide and they said they may heal together :rotfl: :rotfl: oh the joys of babies

yup witch hazel for me too , i use to dab it on with cotton wool ( watered down of cause) and altho it would kinda sting , it was a nice cooling sting and felt better after ! but i didnt feel right for at least 3 months and it still hurts occasional now spec durring sex
