Hi tam

If i'm right you had your booking in appointment on Friday, did it go ok? Haven't seen you on here this weekend and just checking it went well.

Would be interested to see what happened at the appointment as i have mine on July 25th. Lis x :D

Hi babe

Sorry, I haven't been on, had the race for life yesterday at Regents park, spent the rest of the day there and then went out for a meal last night, completely whacked myself out for today

Well the appoinment went fine thanks babe......I got asked some health questions and general questions i.e Have you had any other children, any complications with the birth........when was your last period, how do you feel. Then she had to ask if social services had ever had to be inolved and a few other things like that  although before she asked, she did say she hated this part and was so sorry she had to ask.......she was annoyed she wasn't asking about cigarettes and alcohol instead, but it is obligitary now apparently! Answers was no by the way!

She took my blood pressure a couple of times, that turns out to be high, so I have to go back next Friday to have it done again, but I may need monitoring for it, as it was something I had after the birth of DD! But she said she wasn't going to jump in head first, she would see how I was next week as it could be down to a number of things!

She then asked if I wanted a scan at about 11-13 weeks, a nuchal scan, this isn't compulsory but if you want them to look for a possibiliy of Down's, they d it at this time (they can't tell you that the baby will be a down's but they will have a better idea if a further test should be carried out). \She sid some people just say yes to the scan as they want to see the baby....so the choice is yours?! I am having it! Then I have a more detailed scan around week 20 when they do measurements of baby organs and so on, and count toes and fingers if poss! Because of the blood pressure my Doctor thinks I will be seen by the hospital sooner rather than later, and possibly have the scan earlier too.

She then asked what hospital I would like to go to, she filled in part of a form (I need to finish it off) for free prescriptions & the dentist. I was given "Emma's Diary" book, just a lot of advertising and a week by week guide to pregnancy! She also went thru the foods to avoid and the benefits of a healthy diet, asked about drinking, so I told her I was a shandy gal now  and don't have them a lot!

I think that was about it................she is a brilliant doctor and I spose I was in there for about half an hour - she then asked if we had any questions.......she advised me not to do the race for life (which I didn't in the end, but I still went to support my friends and family). And just said to take it easy, be good, but not too good

So on the whole, I was really pleased!! I am longing for the scan still, so as soon as I get the appointment thru I will let you know, but for now I just have to go back next Friday to ave blood pressure done again!

How you feeling now babe? I was sick yesterday morning.....when I got up there was this awful smell downstairs, no one else could smell it, just me, but it made me so ill :puke:  so I had to get OH to open doors and windows and spray air freshner. I got back ache walking around Regent's Park, although I didn't walk too far. I have been feeling sick on and off today, nearly was earlier when OH did me an omelette and sausage ciabatta - but I somehow managed to eat it and was fine! So I think I can honestly say now I am starting to feel pregnant :cheer:

Are you feeling Pg now babe?! Hope you're OK!

Wishing you all the best on the 25th babe! xx

thanks tam for this information glad it went well, hope your blood pressure is ok, i am a nurse and i think when children come into hospital or have appointments they are all more anxious than normal so there BP is a little higher anyway, hope your BP is down on friday. Bet you can't wait for the scan! i understand about the whole social service questions we have to ask that all as well and sometimes people take it the wrong way- understandably.

I do kind of feel pregnant because of the exhaustion especially in the mornings, takes me ages to get going, finding 12 hour shifts very long days but find going to bed about 9pm helps a lot ( i love my bed!!) apart from that don't have any other symptoms apart from these stretching pains off and on, to the extent i did another test this morning to make sure i was PG and not imaging it!!

thanks for this reply i feel reassured about the appointment and now can't wait to meet my midwife.

Take care Tam, hope your sickness doesn't continue
