When your LO learns a new word, do they stop saying their other words for a bit? Ella's finally learnt Dada but has stopped with the mumma (gutted isn't the word, after hearing it daily for 3 months it's a bit of a shocker!).

Rubie says dada too, but has never said mama or anything like it, so I'm gutted too :( But yes she is the same, used to say goo, gaa, go etc, but never says this now, it's all dada dada dada lmao

Brody goes through phases, sometimes he'll be all "dadada" for a few days, then it'll me mumma again.

He always says mumma when he wakes up in the morning though, I'm always the one to go to him.

She said mumma once tonight when I went in the same room as her, but apart from that it's all bloody daddy at the moment  Hrmph.

Kina funny u say that I asked my mum the same the other week. All Rebecca used to say was mumma, then my mum taught her buba, and that's all she says now, nothing else. grrr

Damien has been saying mumma for a few weeks, he says it to wake me up while patting me on the head in the morning
He started to say dadda a couple fo days ago, and now baba and gagga but he still says mumma mostly, thank god  He doesn't talk that often though

Well she only started saying dada on Monday so I'm hoping it's just a phase... she's really chuffed with herself though

Hi

Well its great she finally says dada.when Kiara first learned it thats all she said for about a week but now its still always mama and rarely dada lol so maybe its just cuz its new and exciting for her
Katrina

irritating istn it

alex said mumma first which annoyed dh as he had put in a lot of time trying to get alex to say dadda!

but after a couple of weeks he got dadda and like Ella he wouldnt say mumma at all! (unless he was crying - he always wants mumma then!) he was liekt his for a good two weeks i think then he sort of experimented with lots of sounds like buba and ro ro. back to saying mumma and dadda as well as nan nan now!

so cute :D

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Phoebe has never said MumMa.

Says DadDa and Bye though

She has days where she talks non stop and then goes quiet for a week or so.

Charlie talks away to himself loads and always sounds like he says mama and dada but not actually at anything so I'm not sure whether they are words he's learnt or just sounds he can do  x

I think so! Maheen has been saying "maman" for a month, and since last week, she has started "papa" and stopped with "maman"...well, said it again tonight when i came back home! :)
when she started foming sounds, she started with "tata", which means "auntie", and that was funny because it just corresponded to when my auntie came to look after her from France, for the last 2 weeks in July!!!
Now, she does not say it anymore!

It's great to hear their voice and see how they react to words!!! I love it! And that's one of the reasons why I really wanted to go part-time so i can see all this!

Mel xx

Charlie doesnt say Mummma :( , She does say Daddda a bit too. Since being back from my mum and dad's she says 'Hi-der' as in 'Hi there' or 'Hiya' . Cant wait til she says Mummy :cheer:

Seren says mama, dada, baba and hiya but she tends to say dada to the cat as well as to me and OH so I don't really think she fully understands what the words mean, just that she likes the sound of them

Ella says mama, dada, nana, baba and has started to say hiya, yes, ta and din dins.

Most the time she says the sound of the word, but on occasions the word comes out so clearly.

She tries to copies sounds and words now but most the time it comes out as something else, its sweet !
