Hi this is more of a question directed at those further on in Tri 1, I'm in the middle of doing an Open Uni degree (have courses booked and paid for right through to November) and I start a Chinese Mandarin beginners nightclass on Monday for 11 weeks, this all totals about 20 hours of study a week, I also work a 37 hour week (although off sick for the next 3 weeks as suffered from stress and depression caused by my job before xmas).

I took all this on before I got my BFP last week and as the pregnancy has come as a shock and is my first one I dont know what to expect. Obviously I anticipated just about being able to cope with everything before but now I am worrying that I might start to feel worse, or tireder the more I progress through tri 1 and I'm starting to think I may have stretched myself too thin? Then on the other hand I have my mum telling me 'pregnancy isnt an illness' and I should still be able to get on with my normal life? What do you think??

I know you asked for Tri 1 peoples opinion but I can remember tri 1 like it was yesterday and I will say that about 2 weeks after getting my BFP (I was 4 weeks when I found out) I was shattered. Completely finished and was good for nothing!

My circumstances may be different to yours though. I have a 4 year old and work a 40 hour week but have a very supportive OH so the load was shared. Some days all I could do was climb into bed as soon as I got in from work.

Your timetable knackered me just looking at it!! You may be different though and can only really assess the situation by how you feel you're coping with it all. You may have sickness on top of that and then you may have no sickness at all. It all depends.

You're mum is right, being pregnant isn't an illness but at times it can make you feel useless. If it does, hopefully it won't be for long and before you know it, typical Tri1 symptoms disappear.

Sounds like you have a lot on and even if you manage so see some of it through it will be an acheivement. Just remember yours and baby's health is paramount. You could always do some of what you planned after the baby is born and a little older....

xx

It sound like too much to me honey......i would try to cut down if you can. Some days when ur very sick, tired, hormonal, pregnancy IS like an illness..... Good luck whatever you decide!

aw thanks guys, I really appreciate the advice, especially as you are speaking from experience, I have no idea what to expect from being pregnant except what I am already feeling (tired, dizzy, achey!!) it sounds like I probably have taken too much on, I think I may get in touch with my Open Uni tutors and see if I can delay the course that starts in May until after the baby is born.

hey hunny

it does sound as if your taking on alot! try and slow down a little bit and take some time to take of you and bubba. Maybe cut down shifts at work. xx
