So for the past few weeks I've been suffering from tailbone pain and it's getting progressively worse.

I've been bearing and grunting but today I've had enough and it's really upsetting me, I'm sat at work fighting back tears hoping my colleague doesn't notice.

As soon as I get up from seated, I feel shooting pains in the tailbone area. Tonight I will ask my o/h to massage the area with oil but do you think it's worth going to the doctor?

I really don't want to waste my time and be told "well it's part and parcel of pregnancy and there's not much that can be done to relieve the pain)

If it's not tailbone whilst seated, it's groin pain whilst lying down. Just so fed up now.

Sorry for being a whinge, I know we all have our own aches and pains.

Sounds like SPD/girdle pain. Go to the gp and ask for a physio referral x

Oh really? Didn't realise it would be that. I thought SPD was around the front.

Midwife told me to get used to it but I'll go docs and hope he refers me

I’m under physio for back pain.

They will tell you to do pelvic tilts and pelvic floor exercises :)

Haha I should start now. I've also ordered an exercise ball too.

Do you think the exercises are helping you at All?

Yes, it’s helped loads.

I would recommend it.

Sounds like your MW is super helpful....! Find out how long physio waiting time is, if it’s weeks on weeks it might be worth seeking help privately since you’ve not got loads of time left In your pg. I wouldn’t think of SPD first with tailbone pain but equally it could be. I’d possibly try an osteopath or chiro, these have been most effective for me x

I had tailbone pain with my first which progressed as the pregnancy did. For me it was the first signs of the sacroiliac joint moving more. Definitely get a referral. Also a cut out cushion helped me, or like a v shaped cushion with the long arms under your thighs and nothing directly under your coccyx. Still nips though!!

Mine started in my back in my first pregnancy. SI joint dysfunction which ended up with undercarriage pain later on.

I would recommend you nip it in the bud as soon as. It’s very debilitating. My hydro sessions have been really helpful.

This sounds EXACTLY like What o have ... pelvic girdle pain, previously known as SPD apparently.

You can get it anywhere in the pelvis - I have it in the right side, whereas traditional SPd used to be known as just the pain in the pubic bone which is no longer the case and they now use the term PGP.

Im seeing a chiro and a physio to try and help... in all honesty it hasnt helped so far, but Im living in hope.

Also, are you on fbook?? X

Thankyou so much ladies, I feel reassured knowing what it is.

I will try to book a docs appointment asap
