For her reflux, as evidence that the medicines are not relieving the symptoms.

Has anyone else had to take their LOs for one of these?

Never heard of it but didn't wanna r+r

Whens the xray? What symptoms does she still have ? Poor thingXxx

I have had a barium xray, but can't imagine they would do it the same way for a baby. I had it done for my intestines, so it was an enema.... Not fun lol. I would imagine Tilly's is for her esophagus, stomach etc so she will probably have to drink it which shouldn't be too bad. I hope it goes well! Xx

Yes I have to take some expressed breast milk and they will put the stuff in it.

I did a hospital escort for one of my elderly clients to have one done. She drank it too. It's mucho interesting to watch! She had to drink tons of water afterwards though so make sure they let you know how much to give Tilly to move it through xxxxxxxx

no advice but hope all goes ok poor tilly xx

I don't know when Becky, hopefully next week.

Ive had a barium X-ray. I had to drink this funky milk shake and then they use the X-ray machine to watch as it goes down. Doesn't hurt but the liquid tastes horrible. I kept wanting to throw up lol. But I'm sure as yours will mainly be breast milk I'm sure it'll be nicer for her. I hope it all goes well.xx

Sorry missed the bottom part of this. She still a nightmare to feed a lot of the time and sick loads and screams when put flat. She coughs and chokes and her eyes water and gets upset in between feeds.

Hi, haven't had it done but am a radiographer. Most likely they will lie her on the couch give her some barium & milk (the hardest part LOL - sometimes from a bottle or else squirted into her mouth with a syringe, like you would nurofen. They will watch it go down and then you and Dr will roll her up onto each side whilst they look ro see if any refluxing back.up her oesophagus. It's simple and pain free but can be tricky getting them to take it in the firstplace. Just have plenty of wipes and a change of clothes and as others have said cool boiled.water for after as quite constipating. And don't be surprised barium is white in, white our ;o) hope it goes well. Dr should be able to say fairly quickly whether the reflux has shown, but its tricky because its only a snapshot in time, so just because it may not have shown when they're looking, doesn't mean its not there. It just helps them rule out a structural abnormality etc. Hope something in there was helpful x

I hope she will take the barium ok I think my patients say it tastes sweet so there is a chance she will take it with no fuss?
I am glad they are doing more tests :)
Though reflux can be missed sometimes in this exam if it is a serious case of bad reflux it usually picks it up.
I hope for the best results

Aww, poor tilly! Really hope it goes well and is over and done with quick x
