Hi everyone grasping at straws now I know. lol. Aj has had as you all know the problems which we are putting down to reflux. He has always struggled getting wind up but thats a different issue. lol. I have taken him off the reflux meds apart from gaviscon which thickens his milk (helps with the wind issue). Yesterday my auntie (a nurse) came to my mums for a cuppa (I think my mum instigated the whole thing!) and had a long chat with me. Whilst she was having a cuddle with AJ she noticed that his wee smelt really strong. I had noticed it weeks ago and mentioned it to the hv but she said oh yeh maybe hes dehydrated give him some water! My auntie said to take a wee sample to the pediatrician tomorrow and demand he is tested for a uti as she is concerned as the meds seem to make him worse that there is something else that is being masked by these symptoms. Has anyone else had a LO with a UTI??????

My son had a suspected uti when he was about 5 weeks old. I can't say I noticed his pee being particularly strong but sometimes I think I'm not very observant. Where it all started with him was a really high temperature and he was so grizzly and irritable. Like, you'd move him position and he'd howl for ages kind of thing. So eventually got sent to hosp, did bloods and urine sample and turns out he had e coli in his pee so was given meds intravenously and is now on oral meds (as prevention) till July till we see consultant again as he needs more tests at some point. So they think he had a UTI.
Sorry for long post but just to say Logan's signs were temp of 39* and so grizzly

Come to think of it, maybe Logan's pee was a bit sweeter smelling or at least more obvious to smell, because when I think of his nappies now I don't notice so much.
Def give a sample to get checked, won't do any harm at all d

If he has a pissy nappy with no poo in it before the docs seal it in a bag and take that if you can't get a proper sample. They may be able to press the test stick on it xxxxxxxx

A couple of times he has had a highish temp but nothing to horrendous and is has normally gone down after a strip off. AJ will cry alot proper throwing head back scream. You get him settled one minute and then he will scream and cry out of nowhere. If you move he will cry when you are holding him. He will moan and groan and cry in his sleep. The tip of his willy looks a little red and his pee stinks. Sometimes we have thought he has done a poo and when we have checked its just wee!!!!!
