Please please please somone tell me this isnt it lol

Ok....I am either constipated for a few days, bloated with a painful tummy and smelly farts, or I have the runs to the extent that if I dont get to the loo as soon as I need to go....well I have had to throw away a few pairs of knickers

Its been getting steadily worse for the last year and my diet is pretty good apart from the odd blowout on chinese, and prior to this last year I was always regular.

Does this sound like IBS?? I really hope not :shakehead:

sounds like IBS hun... :( Try some peppermint capsules or marshmallow root. If it gets better then you'll know its IBS

It sounds like IBS to me

I get Colpermin tablets from the chemist for mine they are really good.

I usually find it's certain foods like too much Fibre that set it off for me, either that or Stress.

You sound a bit like me, if i'm not bloated it's constipation (had it really bad lately!) I can't handle a lot of high fibre food, yet everyone will tell me eat more fibre and it's fibre that is the problem. :wall:
I can control all the symptoms better having a low carb, high fat, high protein diet. I find olive oil will help alot!

Thanks for all the replies, I will go see doc about it I suppose....I have heard such horror stories about IBS though

Well hopefully I can find something to help, lots of good suggestions so far, thanks :)

it maybe something inyour diet, thats causing it, garlic and onions set me off big time, make my stomache hurt, sometimes ill be constipated and sat on the loo for 45 mins others its the oppisite, also i get tummy ache quite randomly

IBS is extremely common im afraid to say. I would still get checked out though to rule out anything more serious like inflammatory bowel disase (i was fobbed off with IBS for a while when i had crohns disease) Im not trying to scare you as im sure it is simply IBS but im always over cautious since my diagnosis. Theres a bit of a misconception that if you have IBS you must have a high fibre diet. If the big D is your main symptom then eating lots of insoluable fibre like bran etc.. will produce more liquid into the bowel making it worse. You may have to change your diet when you are suffering to have a more bland diet. Fibregel may also help as that bulks things up and moves things along so does both.

I hope you feel better soon. Ive had 15 years of messed up bowels.. its not nice.

I've had a dicky tummy since having Isaac with pretty much the same symptoms as you. I didn't go to the doctor though I just worked out what was causing it. For me it was mayo especially and fizzy drinks. Also my nerves play havoc with my tummy too but theres not alot I can do about that, I've just learned to live with it.

i was told i have IBS a while ago and the doctor gave me tablets which i'll admit i've never taken.

mines not bad tbh, just switches between the two and sometimes is fine, it doesn't bother me in every day life.

if you mention it to a dr they suggest certain foods which may irritate it, funnily enough i was told i dont eat enough fibre and that was why but i'm not gonna start stuffing my face with bread.

pregnancy also helped mine, and having IBS after the birth meant i couldn't be afraid to open my bowels as i had no choice about it.
If it is IBS it's not as bad as you may first think

I have had IBS for 13 years and it sounds like you could be suffering from it to.

It could be an intollerance to something in your diet like milk or wheat.

I am on anti-spasmotic medication for my tummy pains and I take immodium for the runs.

It can be assositated with stress but I found a book that is really helpful called IBS for dummies and also the IBS network website is worth a look too.

Hope this helps. xxx

im sorry but it sounds exactly like IBS. hav u tried cutting out wheat? then if that dont work cut out gluten too? i kno its restrictive but could be coeliac dissease also. i used to get a bit like that sometimes i find avoiding wheat really helps. it sucks i kno
