Hi,

We're planning on taking Isaac swimming for the first time this weekend.

Which swimmers nappies are the best to use in your experience? Huggies Little Swimmers smallest size is from 16lb onwards which would make them too big for Isaac at the moment.

Also, any tips on what to take/not take etc...

I use little swimmers for Brody.

My advice would be:

- Take a baby bathrobe or a towel to the side of the pool for when you get out.
-Have you got a floating seat? I hold Brody in my arms for most of the time, but he does like to have a float and a spin in his chair (it was from Mothercare)
If you use it for the first time BLOW IT UP before you go! They are a bit of a pain to blow up, do it at home so you're not rushing :)

Thanks Urchin, looks like not many babies are swimming yet.

Yep, I've bought a floaties seat, I'll take it just in case. Good tip about taking the towel to the pool side. That's what I'm most worried about, keeping him warm and hoping he doesn't fill his nappy in the pool.

How long do you go in the pool for? I guess they can't stay in for too long whilst they're so small can they?

I'd just wait and see how Isaac feels, I expected Brody to last about 15 mins his first time, but he loves it and I stayed about 40 mins when he got tired.

I'm lucky though, I take him swimming to the gym where I work, and there is a cool kinds pool with bubbles and fountains etc etc, the room and water are both very warm so it's like a bath really.

One other tip, depending on where you go...If there is a family changing room and it has a hand-drier, turn it on while you are getting changed to warm the room up!

Which nappies do you use for swimming - disposable or re-usable?

If I can't find any disposables I'll have to give the reusables a go. Just wondering how absorbent they are.

i used the little huggies swimmers but then again harley is a chunk, my swimming baths dont let babies in untill they have had their first set of jabs.

i use a floating ring for dior too

Thanks girls. I'll make sure I check with the local pool first what their policy is.

Isaac is too small for the huggies nappies at the mo but if we have to wait until he's had all his jabs they should fit.

Otherwise I'll try the Mothercare ones.

think its the first jabs they have to of had. the 8weeks ones

Yeah I waited till Brody had had his first set, but I did feel better about bugs and things full stop as the pool I go to is at a private gym and is very clean.

Have fun :)

our pool is a right pain to, as they are open showers and there is no where to put the baby whilst you have a shower, not that you can do it properly as everyone can see. there is only one baby changing locker as well, so if you have a car seat take that to put Issac in whilst you get changed.

and most importantly of all, have lots of fun!!!!
