everything seems to be going from bad to worse

first off, everything that happened with my sister at the weekend, now this.

i was supposed to get a student bursary payment today and we were using it to pay the deposit on the new house, the money hasn't went through though

i woke up at 7am to check, and it wasn't there, still no sign. we're supposed to be moving in at 1pm :( we only have £500 which is for the first months rent.

i phoned up the maternity allowance people too, as i haven't heard from them and i sent it away almost 4 wks ago now, basically they can't process it because i haven't put all my old payslips in - i explained i don't have them, and had phoned before and asked if there was any other evidence i could use - i was told to get my old bank statements with the payments going in - did this, but they won't process it. so now we won't have this money for god knows how long either  i thought - oh we might get it at the end of this week, and it will be backdated - but no

i feel completely helpless, i'm grasping at straws trying to think of ways to get money now. my parents are still in hospital with my sister and they had to pay a lot of money for emergency flights home the other night :(

phoned my bank and managed to get my overdraft raised by £250, it still isn't enough though

i honestly don't know what to do, why is this all happening

so sorry you're having to deal with all this hun. Try and stay calm for baby's sake.

Everything will work out ok in the end

I know its a last resort but could you go to a bank and get a loan? This would see you over until the money you are expecting arrives?

I work for the Clydesdale Bank and if you are accepted for a loan then you could have the money in your account today, there are other banks that offer this service too.

Hope everything works out for you today, moving is very stressful and not to mention everything else thats been going on

oh hun im really sorry i dont have any advice
have some hugs though

manda xx

they won't give me a loan because i have no steady income as a student, and OH's credit is really poor :(

i'm trying to stay calm, we're literally scraping every penny we have together at the moment. i know things will be ok, i just can't believe this is all happening at once

If you can't borrow the money from somewhere I would speak to your landlord, explain the situation and offer him the £250 towards the deposit until the rest of your money comes through.Hopefully s/he'll be understanding.

I hope it all works out

i thought of doing this, but it's an agency we're going through and i doubt they will be able to do this, plus the fact that i don't even know for sure when i'll next be getting money in :( worth a try if worst comes to worst though.

Oh bless ya hun, can't imagine how you must be feeling - we're house hunting at the mo and in the middle of putting our house on the market, so I know it's no fun, esp when pregnant!!!

I had the same situation as you with maternity allowance - I didn't have the original payslips and was told bank statements would be fine. But obv they weren't and couldn't process it! They sent an MA5 form to my old employer for them to fill in as proof of earnings and they are now in the middle of processing the claim. Have they said anything to you about this or an alternative? I know it isn't an immediate help but at least it would get the claim underway again!

Chin up x
