Struggling so much with Boy's names!

Only just seen this, haven't logged on in a while because I've been away!

I'm a mummy to a Caleb! So in love with his name I'm really stuck trying to think of a name for this one who's a boy too...

With the pronunciation we pronounce it kind of half way between Kay-leb and Kay-lub, but some try it Kay-lib and I always correct them... Also we've had people pronounce it Kay-lab or even Kallab (sounding more like Callum with a different end) It's a bit annoying, and my sister in law still spells in Calab in cards, but who cares, it's a lovely name!

Sebastian was our second choice first time around and we nearly used it for Caleb's middle name, but I'm glad we didn't because I've heard of loads of Sebastians since, including the son of an old school friend of OH's.

Anyway I think if you love a name you should just go with it, Caleb hasn't caused us any trouble really, we get complimented on his name being unusual (most people have never heard of it, which surprises me!) and they all say his name really suits him, he's a very sweet little boy - but then I would say that!!

I like Brody, our last name starts with a J though so BJ is off the table for initials! Reuben is our top choice for this one...

Boys names are a nightmare. Girls names are so pretty, I could happily name hundreds of girls! All boys names that I like are stupidly popular at the moment. I keep liking American sounding names but my OH just says no to all of them instantly!

Caleb is a lovely name. I automatically say leb. As thats how its spelt. People will get used to whichever way you chose those!

Sorry I haven't been back to this thread for a while!

LuckyLucky - I really like Jaxon as then he would be Jax for short and not Jack which I think is lovely :) Yes I know what you mean, none seem to jump out apart from the 2 we have!

MrsWoody - You're right, Sometimes its easier not to say anything and then you can't get annoyed with everybody giving their opinions!

Jellyvan - It seems to be a common thing with Men not liking Sebastian, I wonder why?!
Ah yes, I do have a few names I like but wouldnt name my child ha!

Julie that's a coincidence isn't it! ! We have good taste in names hehe! I love Lennon too but Hubs isn't keen, He loves Leonard but I dont, funny as they are really similar!

Ah ft90 its nice to hear from somebody who has a son called Caleb, first hand experience with the pronunciation!
It is strange that a lot of people struggle with it, or haven't heard of it..I don't think its that unusual?!
I'm glad it doesnt bother you though and that you really love it! I do too and that was the only thing that was worrying me a bit!
Sebastian does seem to be getting very popular doesn't it, I still love it but I'd never be able to use it!
Haha, oh yes those initials probably aren't great together are they!!
Reuben is lovely and goes really well with Caleb :)

Mellie I know exactly what you mean! We have our Girls name picked out but even if we didnt, We have a long list of other names we love!
I don't know why we are struggling so much with Boy's names?!
Thank you, yes hopefully they would!

What we did was write down a list of boys names we liked and then switched the lists. We then crossed out the definite no's and then discussed.
We narrowed down the middle name to 2 names and saw what first name would work best. We both liked the name to end "ie" "ey" "y". I know Id quite like the next child to end in a "s" sound. "Alice, Ellis"
You can discuss these types of things with your OH and see where you stand.
My boy is Ollie Sebastian. We both love the name Sebastian but I hate Seb. (I don't generally like names being shortened hence why he is Ollie and not Oliver) I have to correct people who call him Oliver (and he will have to do it for the rest of his life) but I had it and it's not that bad.

I would pronounce it Kay-leb. I prefer Brody, mainly because I worked in a school and there was a boy there who was an absolute gentlemen, so charming.
