Morning ladies,

I just wondered when the dreaded stretch marks start appearing and does your skin feel tight and uncomfortable in the final weeks. Ooo, also while I'm asking. What is that dark line that runs down from your belly button called and when does that appear?

Sorry for so many questions.

Hope everyone's feeling top of the morning today.

i was wondering the same so far so lucky
im praying  that by some miricle i'll not get any  dreaming

I think I got my first stretch mark (on my bottom! :moon: ) at about 16 weeks. Most of the others didn't really appear until after 30 weeks, and I didn't have a single one of my belly until AFTER Austin was born - then they all appeared with a vengence! They've all faded pretty well though.

The dark line is the linea nigra. Not everyone gets it. I got mine very early on - just checked my old bump pics and you can see it on the 21 week one. It's still there today so no idea how long I'll have that! When Austin was born he had a tiny dark line in the same place, so cute!

Hi,

To start with I got 1 deep red single stretch mark each side of my hips at around 18 weeks, which to a lot of other mums were telling me is nothing & that I was very very lucky to only have that.
Then BAMMM at 30+ I started getting them from the bikini line up towards my belly button. I think about 6 appeared over night! must have over 20 by now.
If you shut your eyes and feel them (they dont quite feel as bad as a cheese grator like some mums would put it) but you can feel the ripples/dents if that makes sence?

The Linea Nigra (which is the dark line that runs down from your belly button) hasnt appeared on me yet, not sure it even will to be honest.

Hope the above helps.

T xx

I didn't get any stretch marks with my first, then two on each side of my stomach with my second and a few on the tops of my thighs, none so far with this one, i've been putting oil on everyday so hoping this helps

The dark line i had with each of them from very early on and this one i have a line both top and bottom of my belly button!!!

Stretch marks are a worry, so try to "prevent" rather than cure.

I am massaging Bio Oil into my skin (tummy, hips, thighs and bum) every morning after my shower, and have been since week 12. May sound extreme but both my sister in law's did the same and neither have a single stretch marke, as opposed to friends that did nothing and have A LOT. Its better to try i guess!

Bio Oil is more expensive than other alternative creams, but that puts my mind at rest, and it is specially formulated for stretch marks and scars. Boots are selling it at £19.99 for a 200ml bottle, which should last a good 3 - 5 months.

Hope this helps!

I believe each and everyone of us is different and we all have different bodies and pregnancies so stretch marks will effect some people and others may not even get a dimple.

When i had harrison i used bio oil every single day without fail, not sure what it did though and not sure if that stopped me from getting stretch marks???? IMO it all depends on your skin and your body.

I had some when pg with my DS, not sure when they came on but he was born at 33 weeks so obviously before then.

Then got more with DD - mine started above where the last ones had left off so they were then as high as my belly button.

I have more coming on top of the ones which are on top of those now

So in answer, this time mine started at about 18 weeks and are coming along nicely :wall:

I've got the white ones, pale and ever so slightly visible. I've not gotten any red stretch marks, as yet. Am half expecting to as I am the size of a small planet already  TBH, I don't really care though. Hubby loves me, wobbly bits, stretch marks and hairy legs :rotfl: It's only him I have to worry about seeing me nudders.

I've never been one for bikinis or swimsuits of crop tops, or letting my tum hang out my jeans so none of that will bother me.

I figure its all going south from here on out at my age so I'll start growing old gracefully now

I think mine have just grown, I had loads from paris and I have been using bio oil :(

I haven't got any stretch marks. I use Mother and Baby balm from L'Occitane. It is lovely and scent free. I bought bio oil but it has a very strong smell and made me want to :puke: I also use Neal's Garden mother balm and it is really silky smooth! I only use it at night though as it is greasier than the L'Occitane one. I don't know whether these will stop me getting stretch marks but I do know they stop me getting an itchy, dry tummy because or the skin expanding. Remember to do your boobs too (though not your nipples).

There is a 'target' round my belly button of the skin that used to be inside my belly button. It's a bit disturbing to be honest - I hadn't realised that would happen (thick, I know, but I'd only heard of it popping out, not the idea that it would stretch and become belly).

I don't really have a dark line. I've always had a slight line (before pregnancy) but I don't think it has darkened.

i've got loads already :(

all over my hips and thighs :( none on belly yet but i'm sure they'll come in due course. oh yeah, they're all over my boobs as well, luckily they've faded quite a bit already though, got them at like 8 weeks :rotfl:

i don't have that line either, but i've noticed over the past few days my belly button is increasingly losing it's depth  :rotfl:
