I have got very very sore wrists and arms. If I move my thumb up then the pain shoots up my arms and I can barely move them. I'm sure its with picking Eefie up and I'm not used to it. Went to see Dr and she said that all the hormones etc post pregnancy can cause strange things to happen and she thinks its hormonal :? I cannot even write with a pen sometimes and to pick him up I have to scoop and rest him on my forearms.

Never heard of this before. Its like tendonitis but how can hormones cause that? :?

ive had a sore back ever since having alice.

my doc said where the hormones relax your hip joints (etc) to make space for baby to be born, it can also effect the rest of your joints. Where i don't have fantastic posture and my body got used to carrying a load on the front, plus bending to pick alice up, my back is suffering.

Could be where the hormones have made your joints sore, and repeating the same action has strained your wrist. (does that make sense?)

my doc sent me to the physco about my back, did they offer the same with your hand?

hope it gets better soon

I still get a bad back now and still wash the dishes bent over. I remember when Jess was a baby I always had pain in my chest and it turned out it was muscle pain from pushing the pram all the time. I get all sorts of strange aches and pains now that I never got before

No was offered ibuprofen which dont do much. I can understand backache and maybe pain in hips but my hands and wrists :? I'm sure its a sprain but cant see how its connected to hormones

The hormone is Relaxin and it loosens all your joints - not just the one it needs to loosen. I was particuarly warned about it as I was only 6 months after an ACL reconstruction (reconstruction of the ligament in your near which stabilises it). The hormone can also stay in your system for upto 9months after giving birth. I have had regular problems with my knee since giving birth, where it will suddenly give way, become painful and swell back up again. The last time was nearly 2 months ago, so I am praying desperately that it was just the hormone and it won't happen again.

Went back for a 2nd opinion as they're getting worse to the point of not even being able to lift the kettle, Dr said I've knackered my tendons and said I'll need physio, 12 week waiting list or go private which will be about £70 for 2 sessions. He's given me some gel to rub in and some tablets to try before going down the physio route.

Typically they've been intensely sore all week, I couldnt pick eefie up properly and they werent bad this morning
He's given them a thorough check over and its definately the tendon which is what I thought in the first place. He said he could give me a steriod injection but that would mean not moving the wrist for 3 days or it will disperse the steroid away from the wrist, not very practical with a small baby so declined that.

This sounds similar to what I did - not through pregnancy but at some point damaged my tendons there so slightly that I hardly even noticed. In my old job, I used a computer all the time and unfortunatly when I did this injury I was working on a project which meant I used the number pad a lot and v quickly. This aggravated it and eventually I ended up in tears with the pain one day. I couldn't even drive to the walk in centre. I had to wear a support bandage for quite a time and avoid using it - especially on repetitive movements.
Even now - I can't use number pad for more than a couple of numbers- I also have to be careful using a mouse for too long.
