Strange new 'craving'

Ok this is going to sound really wierd but I have got a craving for soil. Yep that's right I said soil. Not the taste of course, just the smell. Am I being a complete wierdo or has anyone had this or similar. OMG I think I'm a freak.

Isn't that called pica - when you crave non-edible things? If it has a name it can't be that unusual.

I love soapy smells atm and petrol and things like that but i've no desire to eat them lol

I love Carex handwash- I've had to ban myself from washing my hands with it and I just sit and smell them for ages afterwards. I also quite often get an overwhelming urge to smell Imperial Leather soap, in fact I might get some on my way home!

I had a huge craving for fresh washing when I was pregnant last time, I used to wash the sheets every day then sit in the utility room with the tumble dryer on because it smelled sooo good!

I do eat them. A little bit. Well kinda, i sort of lather my shower gel on my hand and taste the bubbles

I emailed radox asking if it was safe to do so. They emailed abck telling me they couldn't encourage or endorse eating it but that in very small amounts it wouldn't be harmful...

I still eat my sponge...well chew it M'mmmm I have tons of sponges now, its pretty crazy how many

I also cannot stop eating ice, its got to the point where my teeth hurt too much to eat normal food I wont give up ice though - no way!! my cheeks are swollen from the chewing and biting LOL I am getting through 1-2kg a day at the mo. I have quit icepoles now In a way I hope these cravings stop as soon as Ive had baby!!

antibacterial disinfectant. i love it. i bath in it which u can do anyway but i love the smell. after my bath i sit and smell myself 4 hours lol. oohhhh just thinking abt it makes me want 2 go n run a lovely bath with it in.
i also love the smell of petrol.
i like the smell of all household cleaning products anyway but dettol is my absolute fave at the mo....it used to be bleach.

I too rather love ice! I tend to accidently bite my cheeks and lips when crunching it cos the cold makes them numb... still worth it though.

After reading this thread I feel abnormal as I haven't had cravings since 1st tri and my cravings were only food related (tinned tuna with milk after being vegetarian for 10 years)!!!

Today we put compost in the sand tray at work for the kids to play with
and i had this over whelming need to touch the compost and i got excited when i found a lump of it together i got a thrill in braking it up between my fingers
and watching it trickle between my fingers back in to the tray



really weired i was in the sand tray longer then the kids
