Anyone that had stitches....

Mine are 8 days old now and are still there, I'm guessing they will dissolve soon? Also they are a little itchy but like a healing itchy not infected, which is great but uncomfortable.

Is it ok to put witch Hazel stuff on them or should I wait untilthey are fully dissolved? I'm just thinking it may relieve me of the joys of healing.

Also I still feel quite bruised and struggle to get comfortable, I've finished my meds and painkillers, should I just try taking paracetamol to see if that helps? It's annoying after you've had them!

Im still taking painkillers and zak is now 6 weeks old. take paracetamol or co codamol to stop the pain. if i dont i definitely know about it. As for bruising/ stitches etc I took salt baths and used arnica cream which both helped. hope you feel better soon. Did u have a episiotomy or did u tear ? I had an episiotomy and then a 3rd degree tear which needed an hour and half of surgery. x

i couldn't get up and down, sneeze or cough! I was in so much pain!

my stitches healed after 6/7 weeks. I used wet wipes when i went to the bathroom and took neurofen for the pain.

just be patient with it lovely, it will heal!

i had an episiotomy and its like i was hacked, i thought id never heal.. But yay i did :)

Lol I guess im being impatient, but only because they told me that they would have healed within 10 days! That must have been bollocks cos they are still blaitently there. Grr. Lol. I didn't have deep tears apparently, I tore really awkwardly! (tmi I have a stitch in my clit!) so it was harder to repair apparently. I guess I'll just wait patiently for them to heal.

Lucylu are yours still painful? What does it feel like that much later on? I can't wait to feel comfortable again. X

aww lovely.. Ha 10 days!!! Lies..

i was cut and tore a little up my vajayjay and they fixed it somehow!

now mine are healed down their is completly different. Saw doc again last week and she said it'll take 6/9 months for everything to repair fully x

Hun I had stitches too , they took well over six weeks for me to start feeling normal , I used tea tree oil and lavender oil in my bath for cleanliness and healing . and was careful to pat dry gently after a bath is important to dry carefully . Use wet wipes for going to the bathroom as suggested and just know you will heal , its going to feel tight and itchy when you heal for a few days but its a good sign . Im sure you could use witch hazel too :hugs: you really will feel better in no time .

I tore too and stitches started feeling more comfortable after 2 weeks but didn't feel completely gone until 6-8 weeks - everynow and then it feels a bit bruised down there - but i guess ilike people have said it can take months to totally heal!!!

Apparently Arnica and hypeicum (st Johns wort) tablets are meant to speed up healing!

Thanks girls, the wool was well and truly pulled over my eyes then! I don't mind not feeling normal yet i guess as I've gone through childbirth and I'm guessing it's quite normal to feel a bit different. I just wish they woul tell you how long it will really take! X

i think that was my problem that my doc had to knock out of me- i thought id be back to normal in a week and my doc said '' nope, ull never be normal again'' eeekk!! i know what she means i pushed a baby out my vajayjay!! so it will never be the same again x

Lol yep I know that feeling!imagine feeling like that with your lwg in a cast like I did!

Mine felt bruised mainly but it does get better!x

Omg Lex I thought I was gonna die with my stitches I was in that much pain! Though I do exaggerate slightly lol
Get some arnica tablets (holland n barratt) I really think they are why I felt fine after 4 weeks! They help with swelling and bruising. Salt baths then gently drying cause you don't wanna do more damage, I used to lie with my legs open (lol) for ten minutes after a bath as the midwife said airing the area helps. Ermmmm... Definitely wet wipes when you go toilet otherwise it can sting, for pain I just took what hospital gave me and when they ran out I just had arnica tablets and I was only slightly uncomfortable. Try and sit on a cushion and if it starts to hurt when youve been sitting for a while, have a lie down on your side, takes the pressure off. If I think of anything else I'll get back to you lol x

Thanks so much. Ok so arnica, I've finished my hospital meds, may just take paracetamol if I feel sore. You guys rock. X

I was on diclofenac from the hospital and got a repeat prescription from my doc just in case it really hurt and i do still take these sometimes. I take co codamol at least once a day. I find that it hurts more when I have walked around for a while so take it as easy as u can. Also i sat on like a pile of cushions on my couch for the 1st few weeks which helped. Sorry for the tmi but I tore down towards my bum so it hurts like hell when I go to toilet so something to keep you soft and regular will help which you can also get from the docs. I still dont feel close to normal but its definitely better than it was. x

i think that was my problem that my doc had to knock out of me- i thought id be back to normal in a week and my doc said '' nope, ull never be normal again'' eeekk!! i know what she means i pushed a baby out my vajayjay!! so it will never be the same again x
I wouldnt go that far hun . you'll always have a sensitive areas where you tore . I thought I'd be em  loose , for ever and I thought I'd never enjoy sex again . it was so awful at first . But it dies feel relatively normal and you'll be surprised how quickly :hugs:

You've got a widgey cushion haven't you? I turned the Boppy upside down, put a towel on it and sat on that a few times. It helped!

sorry i didn't mean the stitches wont feel the same again i ment once it healed it obviously won't look or feel the same as before.. DOH!! Sorry i didn't explain it properly. It will heal soon enough.. Mine has, it just doesn't feel and look the same as before x

I used to cover a pad in calendula cream. It was bliss and I never noticed the stitches after that! xx
