Still around

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd let you know I'm still around, even though I haven't been on here much in the past week.

Pregnancy is going fine but I've had a very nasty sinus cold which has turned into an ear infection!!!! Anyway, have had to have antibiotics and also have taken a little Codine & paracetomal in order to get any sleep at night - this is not ideal I know (doc said it was ok to take codine if I really needed it but not to take it for very long as baby can get addicted to it!!). I'm not feeling too good about it - really did not want to have to take loads of pills!!!

The other thing is I've been having severe problems with my relationship - we're starting counselling next week but at the moment I am not too hopeful - OH seems to have made up his mind!!

Anyway, on a more positive note, some of you may know my Dad was taken very ill a couple of weeks back - well he is home now and much much better.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies, my ear is a little bit better though I can hardly hear anything on that side and it is really quite unnerving!!! I've got a rather irritating cough now (mainly at night) which is rather horrid considering my pelvic floor muscles aren't what they used to be (tmi sorry!!!). Anyway, other than that I think the wretched virus is on it's way out!!!

I'm dreading the counselling but really hope it can help us - I do think it is really worth a try and we owe it to the kids.

Saw the midwife yesterday and everything appears to be fine with LO; I am not small for my dates this time so maybe it's a boy!! I did manage to hear the heartbeat (just about!!!) & had to have bloods taken - I do think it's better not knowing in advance - I'm not keen on needles!!! Daisy made more of a fuss than me!!!

I hope all these things get sorted for you. Myself and OH came very near to splitting a couple of months back. It was only determination, work and communication that got us back to where we are now. I think the counselling will be a good idea for you.

I hope your ear gets better soon. Discomfort during pregnancy is not good. My hospital gave me co dydromal to take. Which is codene and paracetomal. They did not tell me about the baby addiction though!! I am glad I have decided to stop taking them....I think they were making my headache worse

Thanks Fuffins, it's really encouraging to hear relationship probs can be sorted out, I'm really glad things have worked out for you - it's difficult enough during pregnancy!

I've been taking something very similar with paracetomal/codine but stopped the day before yesterday. It was the out of hours doc I spoke to on the phone who said about the addiction thing - I think you'd have to take quite a lot of them though (I think they're also addictive for adults if taken for long periods). It's good to know there is something a bit stronger than paracetomal to take occasionally in the case of really bad pain!
