how long did it take for ur episitomey stiches to dissolve??
is it normal to feel a bit sore still after a week? how long will it be sore for??
i clean it with warm water as i have been told but is this enough to avoid infection??

I had warm baths and added lavender oil to the bathwater. This helps healing also. You should not need to use anything on them to prevent infection. Just water should be fine.

Arnica tablets are good for the swelling and so on.

And mine took a good 2 weeks plus to heal and the swelling to go down. It was 3 weeks plus before all the stiches came out.

i was told to bath in salt water which helped

summer is 2wks now and they are still a little sore, after a week they were very sore, i think its because they were pulling together & healing

Ewwwww don't remind me of stitches LOL

Just kidding, hope they heal for you really quickly! Once they do, you will forget you ever even had them! :D

I showered down below a couple of times a day just to be sure it was always clean and make sure you change your maternity pad regularly too. Lavender oil is really good as is the arnica that someone else mentioned. :)

Mine were still agony after a week
Still really sore after 2 weeks
Still sore after 3 weeks :(
More uncomfortable than sore after 4 weeks :|
Getting less noticeable after 5 weeks :)
Forgotten most of the time after 6 weeks :D
At 7 weeks I only get twinges when doing pelvic floor exercises.

I found after a little while the pain seemed to half each day. Which was great to begin with as it was a huge difference in pain. But aggravating later as the pain just dropped a little each day. I showered each time I peed (OK, I peed in the shower as it was far less painful) and after a couple of weeks I realised that the area was getting dried out so put on aqueous cream which relieved some of the pain. So careful how often you shower! I knew the skin on mylegs was agony, I just didn't think things through properly :wall:

thanks girls for the replies ...any way got an appointment with my Dr as i am worried of infection...i just wonder how do the stiches of a section feel like

Your MW can have a look to make sure its all healing ok. Mine did when she came out to check on LO and me after his birth and around 9 days. Much easier than going to the doctors.

TBH I think you'd know if it was infected. Chances are if you are washing in clean water daily it will be fine. Its sore as hell but that improves slowly although the stiches can tighten up and it can feel more painful when sitting or moving I found. But that was not infection, just drying out.

i had a natural tear idk if they heal differently to epi tears but i was still a tiny bit sore after a week. i was fine after bout 10 days, but i tried having sex and found out i wasnt THAT fine!

i only ever used warm water i didnt bother with the salt/lavender/arnica etc but i only had 2 stitches it wasnt that bad. x
