ive just woke up tot he news that steve irwen the croccodile man has been killed by a stingray in the austrailian coast.
How ironic he should die whilst swimming in his leaisure when he has messed about with crocodiles and snakes all his life.

I must admit since i saw him waving his 12 week old baby in front of a crocodile i never watched him but i am shocked with his death.
RIP Steve Irwen and my thoughts go to his wifeand two young children.

Dammit you posted at the same time as me haha. He was doing a documentary when it happened so put himself in the situation. Just to say I am really shocked and sad as to what has happened. I thought he was brill and did so much for wildlife. R.I.P

it stung him in the chest which is really unusually apparantly. It punctures his heart.
Hes usually in control of such things but he can't have seen it coming. :(

Oh no I didn't mean my comment in a horrible way by saying he put himself in that situation. What I meant was he wasn't on holiday he was doing a documentary so knew what he'd have been doing. No one would ever see that happening to them especially as he had done it a million times before. Like I said before I have never really been effected by a celeb dying but with this I am really sad and shocked. I thought he was an amazing guy.

no i didn't for one minute think you were being horrible strangeness

it is shockingnewsand i am upset too. I just think of his young kids and lovely wife :(

I think that's what has upset me the most is the thought of them. His wife was besotted with him and I can imagine his kids were too. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have to go through losing someone so close to you :(

I am really sad! What a lovely guy with so much energy and enthuasiasm! My kids are going to miss his wackiness!!

Emilia xx

the awfulk thing is we probably knew about his death before hiswife as she was in Tazmania trekking and couldn't be found.

it makes me feel sick to think what id do if my hubby left me and the kids. :(

yea i couldnt imagine my OH not being with me and sophie, i feel so sorry for his wife and kids

I've just heard the news too, was only watching Crocodile Hunter yesterday, that programme that he filmed at his zoo, and chatting with OH about how amazing this guy really was with his dedication to wildlife and the environment. And he really is accessible by all ages to understand - if you know what i mean.

RIP Steve Irwin - and thoughts and prayers for those you leave behind

This is a weird one for me, I am sad for his family, absolutley, BUT he's spend his whole life picking poisonous creatures up and waving them for the camera so I'm not really that surprised to be honest. I couldn't watch him on TV cos I felt so sorry for the animals all the time.

It's a shame and all that, but to me it's like when a "death defying stuntman" jumps 20 cars and breaks his neck.

Saying that he did some great work for environmental causes.

I think he raised a lot of awareness by showing them on camera. I think people had a lot more respect for poisonous animals once he could show and talk in detail about what the animal was and why they attacked etc. I always had a feeling from watching his shows that he wouldn't just die in a natural way. I always though it would be a croc that got him, I'm shocked but not exactly suprised at the way he died. I think he did a huge amount of good for so many animals and I have total respect for him.

yes to a degree i agree. But he did a lot for wildlife and pretection of animals.
No matter how you look at it there are two young babies with no father now :( and however you look at it thats very sad.

Your reply might have been to me budge and I was thinkingg about that, so I edited the environmental stuff into my reply.
It is sad, but not really a surprise to me :(

Oh no, I only just saw this :( I only just got to know who he was over the last couple of months (I'd never heard of him before I saw a croc programme a few weeks ago) and I was quite taken by him, I loved his personality, his dedication, his enthusiasm and his crazy hair!

What a terrible shame for his wife and children - I think the last one I saw they had a daughter and she was PG with their second. How awful for them :(

I cant belive hes gone, seems so strange! I thought he was really cool :(

xx

i cant believe he didnt get killed sooner the stunts he used to pull with the worlds deadliest animals...its crazy to think hes gone! he was cool! but i always said hes gonna get klled doing this stuff!
