Here it is - ladies discuss :D

I have to go out so a v quick one - thought it was the best book of the lot.

Remus and Tonk's death upset me the most as there was no build up and the baby left alone  maybe that's just a mum thing tho

Was surprised that Sirius didn't reappear, Ginny wasn't more important in some way and felt soooo sad for Snape. :(

Now I want a prequel with the full story of James and Lily and all the others :D

Yes totally agree that that she should do a prewquel, was fasinated reading the bits in the book yesterday when harry was going through the past in dumbledores office!

Am devastated that lupin and tonks died, you never read abiut their marragr as such either, would loved to have seen a bit more of them and know how they actually died, so harry could get revenge! Also poor fred died as well, the weasley twins have been ahuge part of harrys life and was v surprised that nothing more was said on that. Poor little colin creevey as well :( was crying reading all of it!!!

Was amazied harry didnt die though, i honestly thought he would, but loved the way that the book made magic bring him back as he sacrificed himself willingly for others.

Voldemorts death should have been way more dramatic.

Loved reading the end though where they were all grown up and had familys of their own!!

Loved the book loads!!!!!!!

I LOVED this book, and am going to read it again to take more of it in.

I agree about the epilogue too, i loved them all grown up.

Thought the ending was very well written but i's spoilt it for myself and already guessed that Dumbledore had asked Snape to kill him.

I'm glad that Neville got to play a part in the end too

Colin creevy - forgot that one - and he didn't even need to be there :(

The bit at the end where Harry and Ginny's son has severus as a middle name really got to me.

By the end of the series tho - I have to admit that I didn't like James Potter. His good side didn't ever seem to come out particularly - just his arrogant bullying side. :(

Why am I still here? I should have gone out by now :?

I LOVED the book - I thought it was SO clever and cried my heart out when Harry was on his way to the Forbidden Forrest towards his death (or so he thought).

I think a prequel is a FANTASTIC idea libs.

I am definitely going to read it again as I kind of spoilt it for myself by reading it so quickly - you know like when you eat chocolate cake and shovel it in and don't even taste it? I was like that with HP&theDH.

I'd love to hear what others thought as well.

ok ive just finished

snapes story really made me upset about how he loved lily.. although i had guessed that dumbledore told him to kill him

how many people can die in one book? honestly i got upset over all of them! i cant believe that fred died..

why wasnt voldemorts death more dramtic?! it was just a paragraph on a page... i had to reread it twice to make sure i didnt miss any detail lol

it was nice seeing them grown up... albus severus...that got me upset too!!

i cant believe that HP is over...

but then again theres always the movies to look forward too!

overall ive never cried so ,uch reading one book in my life!

Girls - sorry for being thick but there was one bit I just couldn't understand:-

Why did the elder wand end up being Harry's?

I know he got Draco's wand during the duel at the Malfoy's but how then did the elder wand end up being his? I keep re-reading that bit, but can't make sense of it and I'm sure the theory is really simple?

I'm confunded!

heres how i understood it

when dumbledore died the wand should have gone to draco malfoy np0t severus because dumbledore asked severus to kill him. then harry disarmed malfoy and therefore should have had the elder wand if malfoy had had it... so that meant that harry was ment to have the wand...

i think!

Hmm good question. I think it was that the elder wand knew that it's owner had been disarmed by another wizard. even though it wasn't the elder wand that harry took he still disarmed draco which means that Dracos wand/wnads became the property of Harry.

Did that make any sense? I think i just enede up rambling!

I loved it!!

I too was saddened by Lupin/Tonks death, but it did sort of echo Harry's story about a boy being left orphaned by the Dark regime.

Fred's death was the one that made me exclaim out loud though.

I thought the epilogue was cheesy, but necessary. It re-framed it as a kids book for me, to see them all married happily ever after like a fairy tale.

I thought it was interesting how some of the good/evil lines were blurred. The Malfoys for example, saved by their capacity for love, and how Dumbledore was misled in his youth. Plus of course James, who Rowling made no apologies for being a bit of a git. Harry's first son James, seemed to be similar.......

The Malfoy's part was v good and made them look more "human" if you know what I mean :D

The Elder wand - as I understand it.
Draco disarmed DD - then Snape killed him and DD never had the chance to fight back against Draco. At the moment he died then - Draco had the wand as he had "taken it" although he never actually knew thatt. For Snape to own the wand he would have to disarm or kill Draco - not DD as at the moment of death DD didn't own the wand.

When Harry took Draco's wand (not the elder one - his real one) he bested Draco and therefore "owned" ALL wands that Draco "owned" .

Voldemort was not aware that Draco had disarmed DD before Snape killed him - so he was under the impression that at the moment of death DD still owned the wand and therefore it would have passed to Snape.

phew..I need a lie down now :rotfl:

Didn't understand a word of that :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

please tell me that's because you don't read the books - not because I just wrote a complete load of crap  :rotfl:

No it's because you wrote a load of crap....

Only kidding I don't read the books :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have to admit to crying my eyes out at the end of the book!! I cant believe its all over! But it was A-Mazing and really well written. I couldnt get over how many people died in the book! I was soooooo upset when Dobby died. I loved Dobby the House Elf. I thought the final scenes between Harry and Voldemort were ace and Rowling explained some complicated storylines very well. Although I too found the Elder Wand thing a bit confusing too. I loved that Mrs Weasley killed the Lestrange woman too - it was good to see that side of her - the mother who usually cooked and cleaned and fussed but who was also strong enough to kill Voldemorts right-hand-woman. Mum-power!!
