We met with our gp today and got my oh sperm analysis results back. The gp was pretty happy but my oh is a bit concerned that they are not here he would like them to be. Just wondering if any of you have had results like ours and what you have been told?

Volume was 5.75ml
Liquefaction - complete
Motility - grd1 rapid linear 32%, grd2 sluggish 27%
Count 11.25 million per ml
Morphology - 96%abnormal forms
Clumping not seen.

The gp was happy to refer is on to specialist thankfully though iv no idea how long we will wait!!!

Thanks
Gem x

hi my hubby has just had his 2nd set of results back and have told him they are fine, they have improved on the first set. I'll put them below so you can compare

Volume 4ml
Motility Grd1 53% Grd 2 20%
Count 64.25 million
Morphology 85% Abnormal forms

Assuming you're hubby's test was using the same testing criteria as ours then your hubby's count would be classed as sub fertile. Anything less that 15mil/ml is. With morphology I can't remember if it's anything over 3 or 4% that is considered normal so that would be considered fine. We've had lots of SA's done and they vary wildly, have you got your oh on male fertility vitamins? They do help xx

Thanks for your responses :) so it's looking a little low but not impossible maybe?
Yeah he's been taking well man conceive for the past three months or so. We've for our appointment through for the specialist at the end of November so hopefully they'll explain more about the sa and our next steps x

Defo not impossible. I have a blocked tube and endo to go with my hubby's low sperm and low morph but iui worked for us against the odds and there's lots of ladies who have gone on to get their natural bfp with lower SA numbers. Not long until your consultant appointment who will hopefully move things forward xx

Hiya,

I think anything above 4% normal forms (morphology) is considered ok but can't say I am 100% certain on that. I think on my OH SA reference ranges it said should be 40% or 50% rapid progressive motility so that looks a little low but in no way disastrous. At one point my OH's was only 18% progressive motility! The specialist will obviously be able to advise more. Loads of luck xx

Thanks lisey yeah not disasterous he has some that work ok :) it's just mental that we fell so quick with our angel like in three months with no opks or anything so it is possible! I just wish it woul happen soon so we don't have to have invasive treatment but hey if someone said I had to chop my arm off to get a baby id do it right now! X

Definitely possible, hope you don't get to the point of needing treatment xx

Yes 4% normal forms is considered ok. Mine only had 6% and they fertilized my eggs fine for IVF. (Just waiting to see how the embryos do now!) Good luck!

Can I ask u blue flower, how long has it taken you to get the that stage from when they first agreed that ivf was the next plan for u. I know it's a long process but it's one I need to be prepared for :)

IVF was the plan all along if the clomid and IUI didn't work. We had a consultation last July and started treatment in September: Clomid for 3 months then straight to IUI in December then again in January. We had a bit of a delay moving onto IVF because there was a suspected blocked tube, even though it wasn't there when I had the Lap&Dye the year before. We were going to have to wait for another Lap but convinced the consultant another HSG would be enough as I didn't want another operation that might be unnecessary. Anyway the tube was fine, that was March this year and I was able to start IVF at the end of April. As the process takes about 8 weeks it was June before egg collection and transfer. If we'd gone straight to IVF we'd probably have started it last September but there's less delay with private, we didn't qualify for NHS.

Ok thanks. How come u didn't qualify for nhs?

Whilst waiting for all the tests to be done I passed the age threshold. :(
