just looking for a bit of advice, I've been suffering with really bad pain in my bits for weeks now, especially when trying to turn over in bed, getting out of bed I can barely walk, and when I've been sat down, when I get up I really struggle to move properly as it hurts so much. I have mentioned it to my midwife on several occassions, but she just said it's pressure from where the baby is now positioned. Starting to worry now though as (stupidly!) I've been googling symptoms etc, and have read that if I do have it and it's not on my notes anywhere it could make labour worse as nobody will know about it!! I hope this is just people exagerrating, but I now have no midwife appointment until next Tuesday, and am 37 weeks tomorrow, so could technically go into labour at any time now! It's worrying me a lot more today as I had an awful day yesterday trying to get around and last night, spent most of the night struggling to move, go to the toilet, anything really. I feel like I should call the non emergency number at the hospital, but I always feel like I'm wasting their time or sound like I'm worrying over nothing, then feel stupid for calling them. If anyone has any experience of this, can you let me know? It might not even be SPD, thats my current self diagnosis, so if it sounds like anything else, let me know that as well. Sorry for the long post!

This sounds exactly like how I am most days, had to stop work at 32 weeks because of it. My mw has been as much use as a chocolate teapot when I told her about it!! So I haven't exactly been diagnosed with it, but I do plan to tell my mw when in labour that I have been suffering from it. Most mw's are aware of it and will do everything they can to help make labour easier for u, if they can xx

Sounds like I'd better do that as well then! I'm glad I finished work when I did as I was struggling to get out of my chair just to walk to the toilets, so I dread to think what it would be like if I was still there! Do you think calling them about it will be a waste of time? x x

(((sorry tri hoping)))

HI if your not happy with your midwife not taking this seriously then please see your gp. im only 18wks and after a few weeks of pain at night, getting stuck in the bath, and at the weekend crying because the pain was too much (yes im a wuss) my gp said it was SPD, im currently waiting to see a physio in hope that i can some how relieve the pain, although standing with my feet hips apart and rocking slowly side to side does help alittle. I understand the pain and its awful. Hope your MW or gp can help hun

x

Thanks, I'll see how I get on tonight and if its bad again I'll make an appointment in the morning. It sucks, but fingers crossed I haven't got much longer to go! :)

i feel your pain hun i have SPD and they cannot do anything until lo is born its driving me mad i cant not do anything and it hurts like hell what you described sounds like spd but im no doctor go see you doc even though they may not be able to do anything until lo is born at least when you in hospital having lo they can halp you from then. i also asked the same question as i have spd will i be able to have natural birth he said yes unless there is complications

My midwife was just the same, i told her how much pain i was in when trying to move in bed and what not and her reaction was "oh dear"... wtf?! Someone said if i see my gp he can prescribe stronger painkillers but i dont really want to take them while pregnant so i'm taking paracetamol but only when it's at it's worse. x

I had an appointment with my midwife today and I have been suffering too so my hubby was insistent that I tell her about it.
I described a feeling of heaviness and an achy, pulled muscle feeling in my lower pelvis that is preventing me from moving around like a normal person. I emphasised that it is starting to get me down because it seems to worsen as the weeks go on and I find it hard to get up and move about, especially if I have been sat or led down for a while.
I told her that I did not feel like this at all with my first pregnancy, so I'm keen to know what's causing this feeling and how I can help it. She suggested buying a bump belt to relieve some pressure from the weight of the bump and also she referred me to a physiotherapist for possible SPD.
I think you have to be very clear that you cannot bear to carry on like this and you wish that she could suggest treatment for the problem. It will probably be best though if you book an appointment to see your GP for a diagnosis.
I know from my first pregnancy, that you certainly don't have to feel like this, so try and get the help you need to get through the rest of this pregnancy. Good luck.

i had a bump belt one with back support but didnt help so whe i saw my phsyo she suggested s scarolic belt which kind of work but when you get bigger and later into the pregnancy nothing works im taking co-codamol 2 every four hours just to take the pain away abit
