Hi all,

No point in me starting this thread really except I wanted a moan lol

I've had what I've thought was SPD for about 2 months, it's been fairly mild with the odd painful moment, but slowly getting worse day by day. It's now reached the point where sometimes in bed at night I'm in agony just from turning over! And after sitting at my desk at work, when I get up to walk down the corridor to the loo (often lol) it can be really painful. Before now once I've been walking for a couple of minutes it eases off and I can walk fine, but now it's painful for about 5 minutes, but then it's a constant ache.

I'm due to finish work at the end of June as I have 4 weeks annual leave to take, so I haven't got long left. I was hoping to last as long as possible before having to go to the doctors, but I think I'm going to have to give up and go after the bank holiday weekend. Hopefully he'll sign me off. I really didn't want to do it but it's also the travelling to and from work - I leave the house at 7 in the morning and get home around 6.30, so I'm knackered too.

Anyhoo, that's my moan of the day - thanks for listening.

I really know how you feel, it's so miserable. I knpw what you mean about trying to roll over at night too, it's hard work! A few nights ago it felt like everything had seized up in my hips and the pain actually made me cry! I only wanted to get up for the loo! I had it with my daughter as well, but not this bad. I'm sure that's why I didn't find labour too painful, nothing is as painful as spd!!!!
I'm sure your gp will sign you off, mine did. My consultant prescribed me some drugs which are safe for baby too. They don't get rid of the pain entirely but they help to take the edge off of it. I take some just before I go to bed and don't wake up in pain until 4am ish, which really is a blessing!!
I really hope you're able to find something that works for you  xx

Believe it or not this has actually cheered me up!!

Thinking that labour won't be sore compared to the spd pain is actually quite a nice thought  xx

Perhaps ask your midwife just to refer you straight to physio? That's what I did and I was seen quite urgently. I ended up getting crutches, which really help me at the end of the day or when I'm walking a distance xx

I feel your pain! Turning in bed is agony and it kills getting out of bed to go to the loo too.
And now im really hurting after spending the day on my feet doing wedding photography and I have another wedding to do tomorrow, I just hope the bride won't mind me having a little sit or perch for 30 secs from time to time :(

Thanks all :)

I'm not due to see the midwife until a week on Friday, so it'll be quicker for me to get referred if I go to the Docs on Wednesday. Luckily my doctors surgery are quite good with appointments - you generally get seen on the same day.

I have been suffering badly with this too... going to the toilet is agony plus i am going like 4 or 5 times a night :( I have a consultant appointment on tuesday at the hospital... will he be able to give me something for this?

Hope u feel happier soon hun, I've suffered with this too I know how u feel xxx

Well been to the doctors this afternoon and he's referred me to physio and given me a load of co-codamol pain killers which I'll take before bed. He's said that I have to self-cert for a week before he can give me a "proper" sick note (never heard of this before) - so I'll have to give him a call next Wednesday and he'll write on for me.

I'd been feeling a little better today with being able to have a proper rest during the long weekend, but I can feel it starting to return now :(

Thats good news. I had quite a few weeks off with spd & the rest did me the world of good. Went back to work for 2 days before my holiday & maternity leave & was quite bad for my hips - driving, walking then sitting at a desk all day long - you'd think sitting down would be ok but no... Hope you get all the rest you need & keep those legs together lol xx

I completely understand how you are feeling, been suffering with this for about the past 6 weeks. I saw a physio last week and they suggested a support band which you can use to take some of the pressure off the pelvis. The one she recommended was an Emma-Jane one which you can buy off the internet. They aren't provided by the NHS which I wish I had known earlier as I would have got one sooner as I had to wait about 6 weeks for my physio appointment, I just assumed the physio would provide it. Mine came this morning so its a bit early to tell if its helped at all. xx
