So I'm on baby no. 2 and have SPD... Am slightly worried about giving birth :/ It's agony to do anything now.... And I can't imagine it making labour any easier :( Any advice? I didn't have SPD last time xx

I think as long as you stick to 'safe' birthing positions (ie no stirrups or midwife yanking your legs apart) labour with SPD isn't necessarily any more painful than a normal labour. Do you have an option of a water birth? Have you tried hypnobirthing or active birthing classes? I went to Lazy Daisy classes and they were awesome.

I'm lucky that my SPD disappeared a week and a half before I gave birth (miracle!!) but was getting myself prepared for using relaxation techniques and active birthing positions xx

I had very bad SPD, on crutches last few weeks. I actually did have legs in stirrups it hurt initially but it soon got better....the feeling of a head moving out of your foof soon takes your mind off your hips! Also I was pre warned that I may have to still use crutches afterwards....nope, I am super fine (as fine as you can be after birth). Talk to your midwives and take things slowly, mine were great with me.

Sorry, dont have any advice, I had SPD with 2nd and the labour was worse, I couldn't move when in labour & couldn't even bend to do the toilet (sorry if its tmi but i had to squash a towel between my legs coz i couldn't even seperate them slightly) I cant think of any ways to make it any better tbh. Just bear in mind that certain movements will be worse

I spoke to MW and consultant about this today, I have SPD and hip dysplacia and said I don't want stirrups but she said if you have been pushing and baby is too far down then they will have to get her out and a section won't be possible so stirrups will be necessary . she ensured me that as it is in my notes that they are very careful and deal with people with all conditions with their joints , so there would be no pulling apart and yanking of the legs..Just make sure they are aware of everything. also stirrups are made to support the whole leg from the waist to the ankles. I didn't know this until today, it's put my mind at rest x
