Anyone got any tips on getting rid of a sore throat as quickly and effectively (and safely for baby) as possible? :(

I'm searching for a miracle cure too, came down with a rotten head cold a couple of days ago, been feeling really fluey and now it's turned into a sore throat and cough which seems to pull every bump muscle possible- ouch!
I've been drinking hot water with honey and lemon to try to soothe things, sniffing olbas oil and overdosing on grapes and oranges in the hope it will clear up soon! Dreading the thought of facing labour feeling like this!

Hope you're feeling better soon,

Sarah x

Hi Sarah,

Totally know what you mean. I wanted to be in tip top shape going into labour... I never imagined I would be feeling flu-ey for the event!! :wall:

Thanks for the tips. I usually find that drinking liquids as hot as possible can clear away any infection but it doesnt seem to be working this time.

 Hope we get well soon.

i always have hot water with some lemon and a teaspoon of two of honey in it. It's perfectly safe for you and tastes yummy too. The honey helps to soothe your throat and it's a natural rememdy too so you can have as much of it as you like

Its not pleasant but i would gargle with salt water.. only thing which worked for me.

Disolvable Paracetamol (panadol) works within 10 minutes for me & fine to take as its only normal paracetamol.

I've had 2 an hour ago & sore throat is gone, just take 2 every 5 hours.

Forgot to say gargel(sp) with it before swallowing.

Yep, honey and lemon hot drink or as Claire suggested, gargle with water from the kettle (let it cool down first) and a good teaspoon of salt.
