wrotten cold what can I take?

As the title says really! Been feeling crap for a couple of days with a bad cold and sore throat, but nearly every cold remedy I look at says it's not suitable for use during pregnancy. Does anyone have any top tips? Feel so rubbish.... x x

Honey lemon and hot water is ok (as long as you aren't diabetic), honey has an amazing antibiotic in it that scientists just cannot mimic xxxxxxxxxx

boots do these throat sweets that are fine for pregnancy - glycerin throat sweets i think - other than that its just paracetamol and sleep i'm afraid

Yep, just good old Paracetamol as all other cold remedies have decongestants in which are a no-no in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It's rubbish!

I find vicks helps. I don't rub it anywhere just sniff the pot!!

Take some paracetamol and wrap yourself up in bed or on the sofa with a blanket and literally just sweat it out... I had a horrible cold last week and thats what worked for me. Get well soon hun xxx

I've just been taking paracetamol & drinking HOT cordial! Seems to be doing the trick!

Yes, Vicks vaporub and Karvol capsules are safe to inhale.

Vicks vaporub, lockets and paracetamol got ms through a stinker of a cold. I also had some lemon and ginger teabags left so that with a blob of honey was sooting. Wrap up warm and watch some telly. Hope you feel better soon.

thanks ladies sounds like one or 2 of you on here have had nasty colds too still at least we're getting it out of the way before the babies get here! currently in bed with a box of tissues and my vicks, going to give the hot cordial a try too as not really a fan of honey and lemon x x

I was in bed last night, or rather this morning 2 am. I poured olbas oil over my bottom pillow, to then google that you can't use it. So then I had to get rid of the pillow. It suddenly smelt stronger in the bedroom. Had to have the windows open as I felt I needed fresh air. I hate having a cold. Feel all agitated!

Back on the hot cordial today

And lots of sleeeep!

Great thread hunny as I have caught little mans cold and sore thoat, i havent taken anything apart from my iron tablets and pregnicare all the way through my pregnancy so ill try the hot cordial(going to put the kettle on now), if that doesnt work ill grab some honey and lemons when i take Adam to nursery this morning.
