sore boobs 3 weeks in??

i have been lucky enough to breast feed without too many problems. on about days 3-6 my nipples were seriously sore and i would sit in tears whilst he fed. I then used nipple shields and it instantly took the pain away. i've been using them without any disconfort ever since until yesterday! my nipples (both) got really sore agin. im not doing anything differently and then tonight my entire boobs are really tender and painfull. Dylans not fed any more or less than usual today so they're not uncomfortably full or anything. seems a little odd for 3 weeks in?
Im still using the shields and will use the cream again on my nipples but why do my boobs hurt so much and is there anything i can do?

Mine only stopped hurting 6 weeks in and now (a few days later) they've started hurting again so i think i'll wait for some more replies. sorry couldnt help.
