i have just been feeding Maisy her tea when halfway through the jar i found something hard and black which i have to say looks very much like a dried up bloody SLUG!!!!!!!!!!
been trying to call heinz but there lines are closed till monday.
can anybody think of anyone else to call cuz i going crazy here and have to scream at somebody for this!!!!!

stay calm. Do not do anything rash. Definately DO NOT PHONE HEINZ.

Think about this one.

keep the remains of the pot and ofcourse the 'slug'.
Write a letter (and keep one copy for yourself) to Heinz. Send it recorded delivery. Give then 7 days to reply to your letter.
If they don't reply to you contact a paper. See if they are interested in the story.
Make sure you wrap up the jar and contents including the slug thing. Keep it all refrigerated.

thats what id do.

thanks for your advice, i think thats what i will be doing!!!

The companys just have no caring part of them do they, they just let owt get into food, and it being babys food too thats disgusting :wall:

I've only just seen this.

OMG. I am shocked. Please keep us updated on what's happening. xxx

spoke to heinz and they want me to send it to them, so called foods standards agency who also want it.
they said if i give it to heinz, they wont be able to investigate it so im sending it to fsa.
is this what you would do?

yes hun definately well done to you at least this way heinz cant shush things up and maybe it will make them improve their standards xxxxxxxx

yes . seal it all well. Pack it VERY well. end it recorded delivery. Shove a letter in saying you want the matter dealt with as a matter of urgency or you will take it further. give then 7 days to reply then we will think of th next step.

i have decided to take it to the food stadards agency in person and then i can get a reciept for it...........

HI i just noticed this its absolutely disgusting especially as they have so called extra high standards for baby food !!!!!

I had a look at the offending piece and i think it looks like a piece of vanilla pod that they would use in making the jar you have

Even so it shouldnt be there and i would do exactly as you are, let us now how you get on

i thought it looked like a vanilla pod :( even so like you say it shouldnt be there what if that was given to a baby by a mother who was partially sighted or blind  you expect when you open a jar of baby food for there to be no risk of choking  xxxxxxxx

just like to say that if you are sending anything important then i would send it via registered post rather than recorded delivery, costs a bit more but it is a better service.

took the jar into the food standards agency at enviromental health this morning......will let you know when i hear anything
